Vettel pulls a lap out of the bag that was really special when I saw that he went purple in S1 I was amazed and he held it for the rest of the lap brilliant stuff by him & Red Bull. McLaren surprised me I thought they were going to be Red Bull’s main threat but they failed at the last hurdle.

Liuzzi so slow :(
Schumi too :(

With the rain expected to come at about midway..i wouldnt be surprised to see a mix up in the results…sutil can spring a surprise by being in top 5..wouldnt bet hamilton out for a win…

How did Lewis end up P6 after his fantastic pace in Practice,Q1 and Q2 and how did Jenson,Seb,Mark,Nico and Fernando all pip him? i dont know,Lewis should have had pole there, not the Bloody RedBull of Cocky and annoying Seb he just made me hate him and whats that No.1 thing with the finger he’s needs to stop that its really disturbing. This whole quali session has been completelu stupid!!! no offence!!

Sorry, I don’t normally comment, but I just had to laugh. I think it’s a clear case of your support for Hamilton clouding your judgement on this issue.
Vettel is the complete opposite of a “cocky” or arrogant superstar. In fact, despite the immense success he has enjoyed despite being so young, he has never really changed or become a different person. He has stayed seemingly nice, personable, friendly and he doesn’t gloat about his successes or demean other drivers who are worse than him. I don’t understand where your “cocky” comment came from.
If your talking about that “No.1” thing with his hands then I have to ask what’s the problem with that? Hamilton celebrates by punching his fists in the air, Seb celebrates by putting his finger up like that. Would you like him to be boring and just mope off to the motorhome?
And before anyone accuses me of any Vettel bias, I like him, but I support drivers like Hamilton and Glock almost equally.

im with younger hamilton on this one,
i hate vettel’s “no.1” as well, id rather him punch the air,
if you think the “baby schumi” name he has been given and also bernie’s worship of him has not gone to his head even just a little bit then you must think of him as almost super human because im sure it has.
i remember him saying to the press after malaysia that he deserved to win bahrain and australia…
… well no one deserves anything in f1 you earn it.

“well no one deserves anything in f1 you earn it.”
indeed, but i would say that vettel did everythng right to earn those two wins, the car just let him down. very frustrating. i should dislike vettel more than most given i am behind webber all the way, but i can’t, he’s just such a likeable fellow. so when webber calls it a day, i’ll be behind vettel (unless ricciardo gets a drive of course).

“i hate vettel’s “no.1″ as well, id rather him punch the air,”
Now I might be wrong, but haven’t many other drivers done a celebration like this before?
From “Younger Hamilton”‘s post, all I see is the usual fanboy hatred of anyone not driving a Mclaren with a yellow helmet winning/being on pole. Give Vettel a break, he blitzed the field today and has the right to celebrate so well done to him. And before anyone asks, I am a Red Car fan, not a Red Bull fan.

Also note there is a big difference between being a fan and a fanboy/girl.

“Lewis should have had pole”
well he’s not, so he shouldn’t be. i don’t understand that logic. vettel/the rb6/newey/red bull’s whole team is just too awesome.

“How did Lewis end up P6 after his fantastic pace in Practice,Q1 and Q2 and how did Jenson,Seb,Mark,Nico and Fernando all pip him?”
err… cause he is #$%^ and you are @#$%!? lol j/k..
Hamilton didn’t get pole because others are faster then you think they are, and certainly faster then HE thinks they are. And clearly he did not deserve pole in that case so sorry, but you are wrong!

I’m a big Hamilton fan but I’ll tell you why Hamilton is 6th on the grid:
BECAUSE 5 PEOPLE COMPLETED A QUALIFYING LAP QUICKER THAN HE DID.

It seems that McLaren constantly run low fuel in the practice sessions where as Red Bull and Ferrari run race fuel to gather valuable data..
That’s why generally they perform better during the race.. so it’s not surprising to me that Lewis and Jensen qualified where they did.. :)

not exactly, the Ferrari doesn’t seem strong. McLaren poor result in Q3 because “the tyre was not warm enough”, strange stupid of McLaren

the red bulls were probably running with more fuel during the practice sessions than the mclarens.

Same old story at the front… Amazing lap by Vettel… Nico is looking very good… Never thought I’d say it, but I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for Shumi… Nice job by Jensen finding half a second from Q2 to Q3… Lewis disappoints again in quali. I’m wondering if he pushed too hard in the first 2 sectors, and didn’t have enough tyres for the final sector.

“Same old story at the front”
Same story, but sorry, its not old. Not yet anyway. Fortunately for you Vettel had lots of bad luck. He should be leading the Championship with 75 points. And then maybe I would agree with you.

i want vettel to retire and lewis to win,if not win then at least a podium finish would do,you never know there’s a slight chance of rain and could mix things up
Burt
17th April 2010, 8:46
They say it’s 50/50 possibility of rain. Let’s hope for a dry start, heavy rain after 10 laps, and then a drying track towards the end.

mmmm….. that sounds perfect.

or soaking wet start then dry for the 2nd half of the race with a late shower blowing over the circuit with 10 laps to go…
BasCB
17th April 2010, 9:02
That was a show of Instant Vettle, last year he showed as well that he can get something extra to get to pole.
But somehow i do think the pole sitter won’t win (again) the race.
I am looking forward to Alonso and the McLarens pushing the Red Bulls, like they said they could have done last race if they would not have blown qualifying.
If it rains, then it would be good for the right twin Schumacher to get in the car and give us some racing. He just does not take the car even close to the limit, let alone just on the edge (look at the laps from Vettel and Schumi compared).
Is it possible they hired him to keep Rosberg on edge and learn him some tricks and to get him for the car ads?
Bring on the race, Alguersuari is really coming to the fore, maybe get another race long battle with Schumi for points.
Red Andy
17th April 2010, 12:47
Not sure how good Alguersuari’s lap really was, given that Buemi has a wet setup on his car in anticipation of a wet race. To only be a tenth down on your teammate in those conditions is pretty impressive stuff from Seb.
James_mc
17th April 2010, 14:16
…not if the team mate is Alguersuari ;-)

17th April 2010, 14:28
I think they should actually make Karun start from 29th on the grid, just move him a few meters further back down the straight.
Getting bored of Red Bulls on pole now though. Here’s hoping for one of those wet-dry-wet-dry races that are always so much fun to watch.
James_mc
17th April 2010, 21:53
Hahahaha! Poor Karun :-(

17th April 2010, 21:06
We mustn’t forget that in 2006 Michael Schumacher started in 10th position in similar circumstances and went on to win a wet race. OK, he may not win this time, but I think a strong finish is on the cards for Schumi sr.
Magnificent Geoffrey
17th April 2010, 23:34
…and that was also his last ever victory, interestingly enough.
David A

He started 6th here 4 years ago, not 10th, but it was still impressive.
