    hi all,

Random first post from me but….does anyone know what the gap between the grid positions is in an F1 race? ie on Saturday how far (in distance) was Jenson behind Lewis? A car length? How far was Grosjean behind Jenson? Is the distance between each car the same or is it more of a gap between each row? Does this vary by race?

Just been bugging me for some reason :)

    cheers

Surely, Jenson, as a Formula 1 driver you should know those kind of things. And why are you referring to yourself in the third person?

Serious answer: I don’t know the exact distances. I’m pretty sure the gap between each row is constant, though.

depends on the circuit but its normally around 8 meters in distance

If you’re talking about on Sunday – how far Hamilton sat ahead of Button when waiting on the red lights – that’s 8 meters between 1st and 2nd; 8 between 2nd and 3rd; all through to 24th. On ALL circuits.

But if you’re talking about Saturday qualifying – then that would depend how much faster they are on the day.
