Aussie Rod commented on the post, F1 to discuss dropping FIA-specified components from technical rules 3 months ago
If the new technical and financial regulations achieve their aim then this would allow the scenario being suggested to work. An equal playing field on cost and tighter technical regulations should negate the need […]
IMO Leclerc has proven over the past two seasons that he is the real deal and just as quick as Verstappen and Hamilton. The three of them going head to head in equal(ish) equipment would be a mouth-watering […]
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Track changes planned to improve racing in November's Australian GP 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Widening corners to ‘encourage overtaking’ often has the knock-on effect of reducing the sheer driving challenge (insert Yas Marina pic here).
Turn 1/2 is a great spectacle for F1 cars. It’s narrow and fast […]
“Hamilton’s Turkish GP masterpiece shows his success isn’t just down to the car” – Ross Brawn
“Russell’s Sakhir GP masterpiece shows it largely is” – Aussie Rod
‘Formula 1 is not a finishing school’ – Mark Webber
I wasn’t particularly impressed with Albon in 2019 and didn’t think he offered any more than Gasly did. And I wasn’t surprised by his performances in 2020. […]
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Should Formula 1 use Bahrain's Outer circuit again? 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Have to admit the race was less exciting than I thought it would be, although this was masked by the interest around Russell. I’d happily have the outer circuit again, but maybe as a 2-day weekend instead..?
Aussie Rod commented on the post, F1 should consider Yas Marina track changes to remedy "grim" races – Ricciardo 5 months ago
Yes Marina doesn’t have an overtaking problem, it has a driving challenge problem. The track is simply too smooth, too forgiving and too easy on tires, car and driver.
Hence the field lines up in a very […]
Aussie Rod commented on the post, "We were still too slow" despite beating Ferraris, says Raikkonen 5 months ago
I would love to see Russell in the Merc next year against Hamilton. But I can understand Toto’s logic in keeping Bottas.
What I can’t understand is Racing Point. Vettel / Stroll is such a poor lineup at a tim […]
Mercedes dominance. Red Bull clear second. Lost of talk of track limits and tires.
Yep, back to normal folks.
Bit early for this isn’t it..?
But yes, I think this year more than others drivers can clearly be separated into the good (the top 9) or the bad (the bottom 11). Hulkenberg could be said to make the good a top […]
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Russell's big opportunity is a clear threat to Bottas 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Need to keep in mind this weeeknd could be somewhat bonkers due to the sub 55-second lap time. Looks like there will be only 4 braking points in the whole lap.
I expect a very close field during quali and all […]
The perfect driver line up to demonstrate what you need to make it all the way into a Formula 1 seat nowadays.
1) A famous racing father
2) A billionaire father
No offence intended to either driver and I […]
I have to say the prospect of Bottas v Russell in the two Mercs is so much more enticing than another weekend of ‘get in there Lewis’.
Will be fascinating viewing no matter what happens.
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Albon pleased to put "silly mistake" behind him with fourth 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Albon is once again flattered by the gap between Red Bull and the midfield. He was 6 tenths behind Max yet lines up beside him. Stroll was nearly the same margin behind Perez in Q2 (with mitigating factors) but […]
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Is Hamilton's praise for Bottas's performance backed up by the data? 5 months, 2 weeks ago
If Ricciardo had won the past four championships on the trot in a dominant car and Ocon was sitting beside him for each of those years getting the drubbing he has been handed this year, then absolutely people […]
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Rare chance of rain during Bahrain Grand Prix weekend 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Rain at Bahrain..? Yep, that sounds like F1 in 2020.
Aussie Rod commented on the post, Could Ferrari pull off a face-saving shock in the final three races? 5 months, 3 weeks ago
Renault has had good form at low downforce tracks and performed well at Bahrain last year. If Ocon can deliver (and he’s been threatening to) then they could yet grab third.
Racing Point have the strongest p […]
