Adam James commented on the post, Decision on 2020 F1 tyres to be made next week 3 years, 6 months ago
Verstappen’s ability and potential is frightening, and perhaps even greater than Hamilton’s, but putting him above Hamilton for the 2019 season seems a little contrived/click-baity to me. Yes his peak performance […]

Adam James commented on the post, Hamilton using number one on his car for practice run 3 years, 6 months ago
I look to see who has 44 on their car, and then I know who’s the defending champion. Sad but true. On a different note I just spent a moment there wondering what would have happened if Rosberg stuck around a […]

Adam James commented on the post, Analysis: Superior to Schumacher? Hamilton is one title and eight wins away from catching him 3 years, 7 months ago
From the two at their prime I would say Schumacher was the more formidable one in the races, and being more formidable than Hamilton takes some going. In qualifying Hamilton is in a different league. Obviously […]

Adam James commented on the post, Renault may not be the only engine builder wavering over its F1 future 3 years, 7 months ago
@johnrkh I’m not against them being in the sport, I’m just against the sport going out of its way to attract them, and for what?

Adam James commented on the post, Renault may not be the only engine builder wavering over its F1 future 3 years, 7 months ago
Personally I’d intend to go back to smaller teams, rather than trying to attract manufacturers who intermittently exist for strange reasons. That’s easier said than done and untangling the mess with all the […]

Adam James commented on the post, Use a traditional chequered flag to end the race, says Vettel after timing blunder 3 years, 7 months ago
I think the point isn’t so much to reduce the error frequency, it’s more to improve the reaction to the error in that drivers are probably more likely to react to the flag.
Anyway, what a farce! I look forward […]

Adam James commented on the post, Todt: F1 qualifying races an "interesting initiative" 3 years, 8 months ago
This is a very public display of panic and an admission of failing with the 2021 regulations. DRS will continue to play a central role going forward and we will now be peppered with randomness, which could stick […]

Adam James commented on the post, The only thing the black-and-white flag adds is confusion 3 years, 8 months ago
Leclerc should have received a penalty but didn’t. I’m content just to move on and swallow it up in the context of consistent inconsistencies in how the rules are applied. Once an accident happens F1 will apply […]

Adam James commented on the post, F1 planning to keep DRS in 2021 – but may not use it 3 years, 8 months ago
DRS is here to stay.

Adam James commented on the post, Why should Mercedes continue in Formula 1? 3 years, 11 months ago
I don’t have the feeling that Lewis will end up at Ferrari, but much stranger things have happened and it ultimately depends on Mercedes continued involvement, so it can’t be ruled out.
In 2020+ I personally […] -

Adam James commented on the post, Bottas: Following other cars is "a little better" with 2019 aero 4 years, 1 month ago
Question for Ross Brawn. What values do you consider to be at stake here? Is this F1’s pre-2011 values or is DRS an integral part of F1’s DNA now? On another note I sometimes wonder where we would be if Ari […]

Adam James commented on the post, DRS change was "easy" way to create more overtaking 4 years, 2 months ago
Well said. Number of overtakes will be pedalled heavily in 2019 as a metric of how ‘awesome’ the sport is, thus making its extermination highly improbable in 2021. We’ll first be softened up with the “let’s just […]

Adam James commented on the post, After 50 races, DRS is killing my passion for F1 4 years, 2 months ago
It just gets worse and worse. A passion killer.

Adam James commented on the post, Peak F1: Is the pinnacle of motorsport facing irreversible decline? 4 years, 7 months ago
The main reasons we are where we are…
1. DRS
2. Drag Reduction System (well, there’s usually a 2nd zone)
3. DRS (if a zone #3)
4. Bloated teams
5. Bloated calendar
6. The sport has lost its rawness
7. […] -
Adam James commented on the post, F1 tried to extend Sochi DRS zone for race 4 years, 8 months ago
No surprise that they tried to do this. Crushingly disappointing to hear the world champion (and IMO the best driver) argue for the DRS zone to be made longer. DRS has been irretrievably spliced into the DNA of F1. #FML

Adam James commented on the post, F1 considering new eight-car Q4 session for 2019 4 years, 8 months ago
I see your point from but must respectfully disagree about DRS. Eliminating it should be priority #1. I know that sounds fanatical but poll the older fanbase who have followed the sport over a broad range of […]

Adam James commented on the post, F1 considering new eight-car Q4 session for 2019 4 years, 8 months ago
I’ve seen practically every format and my favourite was 1 hour, 12 laps. During this era I thought maybe reducing it to 45 minutes would eliminate the lull that used to typically happen at the beginning of the […]

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense to anyone… but in regards to the comments about aero vs mechanical by Senna etc. I think (as an aerodynamicist myself) that the mandatory use of regulated boundary layer trips […]
