Ciaran commented on the post, Who are the top F1 juniors bidding for a grand prix debut in 2022? 5 months, 2 weeks ago
What I find most striking after reading about all these talented young drivers is how few F1 seats are up for grabs for them. Realistically if we say that Raikkonen and/or Giovinazzi, Ocon, Mazepin and Latifi are […]
Ciaran commented on the post, F1 is following Formula E's lead on social media and street tracks – Agag 3 years, 8 months ago
I understand that FE/Agag have to be ambitious in how they appear to fans and the media, but they really do have too high an opinion of themselves. It’s pretty tiring watching them pretend they’re the titans of […]
Ciaran commented on the post, "Tarty nonsense": F1's use of grid girls is 'under review' 3 years, 10 months ago
I’ll never not find it funny how outraged some people get whenever the grid girls discussion come up. The previous article (comment section to be more specific) on grid girls that Keith linked is some quality […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Hamilton says "something just doesn't feel right" after latest engine failure 5 years ago
What is it about Hamilton that gets everyone so riled up? He loses a near-certain win, and people have the nerve to criticise him for being frustrated?
I find it entertaining that when F1 initially banned certain radio messages, the WEC commentators and fans immediately went on the usual predictable rant of “WEC doesn’t do that, more pure racing etc etc”, but […]
@sviat You make it sound simple, but how would anyone write it into the regulations without creating an even more complicated mess? There’s no efficient way of eliminating driver coaching and leaving everything […]
I still can’t understand the hate against this system. This effectively eliminates pay drivers within a few years and guarantees high talent going into F1… maybe people are salty they’ve one less thing to complain about.
@ragwort I think a lot of people bias their ratings based on the track, albeit the other way around. So if this race occurred in Sochi it’d probably be 4/10 instead of 6.5, because people have a natural dislike of that track.
Ciaran commented on the post, Le Mans 2016 promises to be a six-way fight at the front 5 years, 4 months ago
I’ve always been envious of Le Mans/WEC fans’ ability to stay eternally positive about their series… F1 could do with some of that. I went to the WEC Silverstone race and it was a great experience, so I’ll be […]
I wouldn’t argue that F1 shouldn’t be dangerous, but how does Aeroscreen impact this? All it does is (mostly) eliminate the chances of getting hit head-on by debris, this doesn’t change the core of F1 of […]
The cockpits would still be open, I don’t see how Aeroscreen changes anything in that regard. And F1 cars have had screens before http://www.mrof1engineering.co.uk/images/cars/brabhams/bt44b/large/20.jpg
Ciaran commented on the post, Verstappen makes first appearance as Red Bull driver 5 years, 5 months ago
Those Red Bull shoes need to be destroyed…
It’s an incredibly harsh decision, but it’s difficult to see Kvyat potentially winning a world championship or even races, so getting replaced by Verstappen was an inevitability in that regard. One other thing […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Side-by-side: Compare the Halo with Red Bull's Aeroscreen 5 years, 5 months ago
I’ve always wondered how people in the past opposed safety changes that are viewed as commonplace today. I’ve heard anecdotal stories about how there was opposition to helmets, etc. back in the day, but it’s even […]
Ciaran commented on the post, Races will be "very dull" with more downforce – Ricciardo 5 years, 6 months ago
For the sake of my sanity I’ll assume I didn’t just read an article where Jacuqes Villeneuve, of all people, complained about other people complaining too much…
