Sainz getting an exceedingly generous rating then – would he really be doing a better job than Alonso, Rosberg, Button, Perez, Grosjean, Hulk? Really?? I would put him in the Bottas/Raikkonen league just outside […]
I agree absolutely with what you say but I think Ferrari want a top class number 2 who’ll bring home a bag of points, them being “the next big thing” is perhaps secondary. As I say, Button in any case would be a […]
Have always been a fan but both last season and this year he has reminded me a little of the likes of Hill, Villeneuve or Coulthard in their last seasons – drivers who just stayed in the sport a little too long. I […]
Agree. I’d also add I doubt Mercedes will be in the sport as a constructor in say 10 years time. Engine supplier perhaps but once they’ve received an acceptable marketing return on their investment in the sport […]
1 FERNANDO ALONSO
“Consistently appeared in the top 6 in what frankly was a midfield car at best. Humiliated his world champion team-mate with his race nous and ability to adapt. Ferrari will miss him but both parties need a change.”
2 DANIEL RICCIARDO
“A stunning season, quick, aggressive yet impressively gentle on his tyres and fuel. The best…[Read more]

And Ferrari really ought to put Raikkonen out of his misery and put Bianchi in their second car.
To be honest since Germany last year he’s been comprehensively beaten by his team-mate- Grosjean as well as Alonso. He’s got the look of an ex-champ in a downward spiral he’s not able to get out of – think of […]
Dan commented on the post, Who will win the battle of the team mates in 2014? 7 years, 7 months ago
Absolutely spot on! Although Merc could go either way in my book, a lot depends on who gets the better start/reliability to the year.
I agree that Alonso will quite comfortably beat Kimi. Not thrash him by any […]
I tend to agree that an Alonso, Vettel or Hamilton would have won more races this year (and in 2012) in a Lotus which was probably over the balance of the year the second best car. Third place in these rankings […]
Spot on post.
My only concern next year is that drivers might be looking after their fuel consumption as well tyres all the time – here’s hoping Pirelli are sensible and start conservatively with these new regs.
Dan commented on the post, Should F1 drivers be forced to make two pit stops? 7 years, 10 months ago
Personally, I liked the 2005 tyre regs that required the teams to use one set in the race unless there was a “danger” element – it meant there was an element of tyre management but it wasn’t so insane as to make […]
1 – Sebastian Vettel.
Flawless season. Honestly can’t recall a mistake he made all year. Yes, he had the best car after the tyres were changed but in my time of watching F1 for the past 25 odd years only the […]
Dan commented on the post, The Iceman leaveth: Raikkonen's Lotus career in pictures 7 years, 11 months ago
It is a sad end to what has been a really great 2 season partnership. Back in January 2012. I wasn’t convinced Raikkonen would perform that well nor that Lotus would provide him with that great a car but it’s […]
Dan commented on the post, Vettel will win seven titles "no problem" – Webber 7 years, 11 months ago
I think you kind of reveal in your post why McLaren want to drop Perez… Button is a solid “B Team” driver and Perez has not only failed to beat him, but has not really matched him on a consistent basis. He’s […]
Dan commented on the post, Is the FIA's test ban for Mercedes a fair penalty? 8 years, 3 months ago
Far too soft.
Mercedes brazenly made no effort to comply to article 22.4h. OK, they did ask Charlie but he gave a, at best, qualified maybe in response.
I wouldn’t have gleaned any pleasure to have seen […]
