Thanks @tifoso1989 that’s interesting to know.

Only the Red Bull floor and DRS to copy now :) The Mercedes looked strong on the soft tyres, finally, plus the new front suspension should also be good for tracks with slower corners – I guess Canada will provide […]

David BR commented on the post, Alonso explains why he chose not to attack Stroll for sixth place 12 hours, 58 minutes ago
Even though we all know what he was doing and why (the Strolls too), he explains it away with some charm and elegance. Aston Martin need to get a move on, though, with their car development if they’re not going […]

David BR commented on the post, Mercedes didn't expect best result of season so far in Spain – Hamilton 1 day, 9 hours ago
The problem for the rest of the field is that they’ve really just been paddling in the same place, Aston Martin and Ferrari in particular, while Mercedes stuck with their W13b-spec until Monaco – or, effectively, […]

David BR commented on the post, Zhou "pretended" I forced him off claims Tsunoda after "ridiculous" penalty 1 day, 9 hours ago
Good luck keeping this new ruling consistent (and it is a new interpretation). It will now be fine for drivers to launch speculative passes on the outside and ‘expect’ room all the way around the corner. If you […]

@pinakghosh I think Alonso’s contract just has an image of a slice of bread, a pot of butter, and an arrow indicating which side the butter is spread.

David BR commented on the post, Verstappen dominates Spanish Grand Prix to win ahead of Mercedes pair 1 day, 12 hours ago
It’s maybe what Red Bull management have discussed among themselves, allow him this wobble while he thinks he has some chance of the WDC and then back to assisting Max, not that he needs it any longer. Pérez has […]

@deliberator When is Verstappen leaving Red Bull? Probably around then.

David BR commented on the post, Vote for your 2023 Spanish Grand Prix Driver of the Weekend 1 day, 12 hours ago
Tied between Hamilton and Verstappen (honorary mention for the wronged Tsunoda). I gave it to Hamilton simply because of his reaction after nearly being taken out in q2 by Russell (who also disqualified himself […]

7 or 8 for the race – went for 8 because the track change and aero regulations really worked today to provide some proper racing. 0 points for the stewards for the absurd penalty for Tsunoda.

David BR commented on the post, More passing? Multiple stops? Rain? Only the winner seems not in doubt 1 day, 15 hours ago
Verstappen was sanguine yesterday after quali: asked about the start, he had, no big deal if someone passes (i.e. easy to repass later). Further down the grid looks spicy, Stroll, Ocon, Hulk and Alonso for example.

David BR commented on the post, I don't know how Zhou managed to escape Q1, admits team mate Bottas 1 day, 15 hours ago
Thanks for COTD. I think since Spa last year, Verstappen’s attitude (not driving as such) has switched from edgy challenger to 100% confident champion. Since then, he’s been mostly untouchable. Given Perez offers […]

David BR commented on the post, Verstappen "on another level" but we should've been right behind him – Wolff 2 days, 7 hours ago
Verstappen is becoming Ferrari/Schumacher-level untouchable, so way ahead, car and driver, that it’s actually difficult to gauge anything. A separate formula almost. Meanwhile everyone else seem increasingly […]

David BR commented on the post, Verstappen easily takes pole in Barcelona as Perez fails to reach Q3 2 days, 8 hours ago
@qeki :P I’m not sure how much more Ferrari suffering I can take and I’m not even a Ferrari fan! 15 years is a long time waiting, success always just over the horizon. Even 2007 was kind of lucky. Seeing Leclerc […]

David BR commented on the post, Turn five error ended my chance of reaching Q3 – Perez 2 days, 8 hours ago
True, setting a slowish time and then spinning out into gravel with a few minutes remaining in Q2 isn’t ideal for progression.

David BR commented on the post, Hamilton thought Russell was giving him a tow when Mercedes pair collided 2 days, 9 hours ago
Emma’s point is that the article explains what Hamilton assumed was happening. Either way, Russell should have checked in his mirrors before moving left. I think it’s a clear penalty ever if it was just miscommunication.

David BR commented on the post, Verstappen easily takes pole in Barcelona as Perez fails to reach Q3 2 days, 11 hours ago
I think the problem is deeper, Perez is fast out of certain corners only, which gives him a deceptive boost in less than a handful of tracks over a season. But everywhere else on the lap is slower, often way […]

David BR commented on the post, Verstappen easily takes pole in Barcelona as Perez fails to reach Q3 2 days, 12 hours ago
Round 7 of the Verstappen World Tour continues. Russell may have been unaware Hamilton was passing on the left but if so he clearly didn’t check his mirrors either. Mercedes to go over that lap and work out why […]

David BR commented on the post, Now Catalunya's chicane is gone, which tracks would we 'fix'? 4 days, 16 hours ago
(OK so Spa’s first corner is strictly a hairpin, just very tight)

All good choices. As Will says, Monza has the worse first corner in F1 at an otherwise brilliant circuit. Chicanes are generally awful. Hairpins are only fun if they allow for ‘spillage’ like Canada mid-lap or […]
