Most important strategy call they made was on the way to the grid. They were supposed to start on the hards, but having trouble heating up even the softs, they changed their strategy entirely. That’s pretty impressive.

@Tifoso1989 I mean, this is silly.
Even assuming that Sainz was dramatic (he wasn’t). Let’s say Leclerc was, over the entire race, 10 seconds faster. On the “ideal” Sainz strategy, that still leaves Leclerc […]

It was poor, but it was car limited, and it wasn’t nearly as bad as will be made out now. Leclerc keeps getting an easy ride because everyone just blames Ferrari.

9/10. Epic, proper race.
I mean, a LOT will be said about Ferrari’s strategy with Leclerc on softs, but what else was there? Red Bull undercut, so Sainz couldn’t respond. The hards were clearly terrible, but […]

If not for the damage to Verstappen, a 9. If not for Ferrari tactics, a 10.

Good. Red Bull and Alpine were on top of things. Made the floor unnecessarily heavy to make it more compliant – then FIA mandated floor stays, so the weight gain was for nothing. That sort of rule change happens […]

From the replays, it looked like he only fully crossed after the pit lane exit line. But who knows?
Gloves definitely off now.

Points impact? We’ll never know what Verstappen would have finished today, but assuming it was second, then that’s not 32-36

At the risk of being obtuse, that’s still Leclerc 1 – 2 Verstappen when it comes to technical retirements.

I don’t think Verstappen has had one clean lap this weekend. His season feels very 2018 – he needs to snap out of it, and quickly.

Seem pretty evenly matched, again, with the same dynamic (Ferrari quick in corners, RB on straights) again.
Race sims not long enough to be useful, but again, evenly matched. Will be interesting to see the […]

We’ll see if this comment will end up being relevant to Albert Park, but as a general rule, not sure I am such a fan of tracks cutting out or easing corners (even 90 degree ones) to make overtaking easier. At this […]
