olpeculier commented on the post, Cancelled Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix unlikely to reappear on 2023 F1 schedule 1 week, 6 days ago
Exactly what I was about to post. This won’t -can’t – cause an issue next year.

olpeculier commented on the post, Cooler conditions forecast for earlier Azerbaijan Grand Prix 1 month ago
I went in 2019 and it was quite pleasant. Would like to go back but not until a certain maniac in charge of one of Azerbaijan’s neighbours is removed from power…

olpeculier commented on the post, As Hamilton checks out touring cars, what's our favourite motorsport outside F1? 1 month ago
F1, BTCC, WRC, although the latter series has the drivers with the titanium covered bits… Bikes don’t do anything for me, although it was nice hearing the sound of road racing over the seagulls last weekend!

olpeculier commented on the post, WEC practice resumes after car lands in grandstand during support event 1 month, 2 weeks ago
If Bernie has anything to do with this, he’d charge the driver for a grandstand ticket…

Alonso’s ability to recall the rule book in such circumstances is amazing. But it’s a steering wheel shaped trophy, not dish shaped…

olpeculier commented on the post, Making Melbourne a night race "could be attractive" 2 months ago
I’ve got friends in Melbourne that aren’t really F1 fans and I’m fairly sure hearing the noise from the cars late into the night won’t exactly convert them either. I don’t think a night race would show off the […]

olpeculier commented on the post, Domenicali wants to give rewards for practice sessions, not 'cancel' them 2 months ago
Sepang used to be free to all and sundry on Fridays with access to all areas. Was the first race I went to and still one of the best experiences.

olpeculier commented on the post, Domenicali wants to give rewards for practice sessions, not 'cancel' them 2 months ago
What next? Prize for the first driver to arrive from the airport, shortest toilet break, number of autographs signed, most litter collected? Ug.

olpeculier commented on the post, Perez thought "Not again!" when Safety Car appeared while he led in Jeddah 2 months, 1 week ago
Commentary said it was because the GPS said the car was on the track. Could nobody have looked out of the window, asked a steward or get the heli to take a look? I know of commercial GPS systems that are […]

Will Bernie /please/ shut up? It’s not like he needs the money.

olpeculier commented on the post, Red Bull's budget cap penalty could hit harder in 2024 – Horner 2 months, 4 weeks ago
And the fine should have come out of the budget, rather than asking Dietrich if he had look for any change down the back of his settee.

olpeculier commented on the post, No support races at Formula 1's Las Vegas Grand Prix 3 months ago
Baku is closed off until after the race as well. It’s weird when all the gates are opened as opens up routes that you had to walk for ages to get round!

olpeculier commented on the post, No support races at Formula 1's Las Vegas Grand Prix 3 months ago
In fairness, that also applies to Silverstone now.

olpeculier commented on the post, Haas boss Steiner pens book covering team's tumultuous 2022 season 6 months ago
Not really. It’s still four and a half months until it’s published, and it’s sourced from his diaries so it’s probably down to editing and adding perspective.

olpeculier commented on the post, Haas boss Steiner pens book covering team's tumultuous 2022 season 6 months ago
I do hope he’s got the time to do the audio version himself. Hearing somebody else read his profanity infused sentences just wouldn’t be the same!

olpeculier commented on the post, Hamilton says F1 should extend races instead of ending them behind the Safety Car 8 months, 3 weeks ago
How about if there is a safety car or maybe even a VSC in the last five laps, it’s an automatic red flag, possibly even with no tyre changes allowed. Gives plenty of time to get the problem sorted and everybody […]

olpeculier commented on the post, Fans throwing flares on track 'stupid and dangerous' say drivers after red flags in qualifying 8 months, 4 weeks ago
Disappointed by the quotes here. They should be banned, full stop. Somebody is going to get hurt by one of these someday.
The drivers are also condoning breaking circuit rules – there are signs clearly stating […]

olpeculier commented on the post, 2022 Dutch Grand Prix grid 8 months, 4 weeks ago
I get the feeling that they cut quite quickly from the shot with somebody holding a flare to grandstands where people were acting like normal human beings. Probably the director realising it wasn’t the best image […]

olpeculier commented on the post, 2022 Dutch Grand Prix grid 8 months, 4 weeks ago
The people on the track at Silverstone weren’t fans, they were protestors and I doubt have any interest in F1 at all.

olpeculier commented on the post, Very slight risk of rain at Zandvoort, though the crowd may make its own clouds 9 months ago
Even if I was a VER fan, I would not pay to go to a race where my view could be impaired by lunatics lighting flares. If they did it at Silverstone they would be booted out, arrested and fined.
It’s a shame […]
