*to not screw up
Seems like this will take a lot of pressure of Verstappen and put it all on Mercedes/Hamilton not to screw up. That kind of mental effect is not insignificant, especially given the conditions.

I just love this guy. I have no doubt he’ll see some improvement over the course of the season.
Look, for sure it was a high emotion, high speed adrenaline crash. And my impression of Russell is that he’s an ambitious, maybe entitled, hot head, I’ve felt that since he joined the sport. BUT – what F1 driver […]

Looking forward to binging this. Although in the past I found the artificial drama and manipulated truth cheesy, I still appreciate the production value and content as I would any other video these days.

Yup – I’ll take the stars over this…
Russell drove brilliantly, no doubt. One can’t deny Bottas had a poor start & bad race. Perez won the race on hard tires two laps older than Bottas’s. But you overlook the fact that Bottas had his 21ish lap old […]
I’m in the same camp. Perez is an end user – not the head engineer. But, at least he can provide feedback on drivability, how the power levels are deployed, what settings they had, etc.

@petebaldwin Agreed, Stroll’s done an OK job for not having the raw pace of others. I did guffwah during the Sakhir GP at the moment when he “went a little deep” on his braking point after pitting, in the battle […]

So happy for Checo. Been waiting for his win since his scrappy Sauber podiums in 11-13.
Bottas should have bagged this but Merc fubar’d his race. We were stripped of a fair fight between Russell and him on t […]
Also felt this with my two boys. Truly sickening to think about.
Same here. Wish him the best in his recovery. What a terrifying experience.

I’d have to agree. His former Ferrari ties don’t hurt. His past drives, tire management and scrappy race results speak for themselves. One of my favorite drivers. He’s been pretty unlucky this season, and should […]

I agree except for one thing, the Ferrari Driver Academy. I’m going to assume one is enrolled/inducted on merit, I don’t that one can buy their way in. The fact that Perez was a part of it for a bit makes him mor […]
rpiian commented on the post, Should Formula 1 break its 70-year-old qualifying tradition? 1 year ago
To me this is less gimmicky than the “balance of power” in Le Mans or other sports car series. Much simpler. I wouldn’t mind seeing two back to back races in the middle of the season with this format, to have […]
rpiian commented on the post, FIA may investigate Hamilton over Breonna Taylor T-shirt worn on podium 1 year ago
I’m not sure Hamilton cares what the FIA thinks. Just wearing it and everyone commenting on it is doing exactly what he wanted. More awareness about the injustice in this world.
rpiian commented on the post, Attempt to slow Mercedes with 'quali mode' ban has had opposite effect – Russell 1 year ago
This is an interesting one. Qualifying modes must really chip away at the lifespan of a power unit, for them to make these claims. Kinda makes sense though faster speeds require exponentially more power in a lot of scenarios.
