schooner commented on the post, Grosjean crash investigation yields 22 areas of improvement for driver safety 2 months ago
While the mandated safety equipment mostly did its job, particularly (and praise!) the halo, the fact remains that if Grosjean’s car (survival cell) had come to a rest in any number of different positions than it […]

I have no love lost for Mazpin and his zillions, but they kept Haas on the grid, and as stated by @zomtec, the Haas car’s general shape is basically the same as any other current F1 machine, and the actual livery […]

It appears to me that F1 fans lean generally in 2 directions … those, like you, who are mostly fascinated by the mind blowing tech, and those, like me, who lean more towards the (mostly lost) visceral aspects. […]

“current drivers” … good one 😉
schooner commented on the post, Grosjean to make racing return in IndyCar with Coyne 3 months ago
With the Coyne team, it would be quite unlikely for him to be fighting near the top of the championship even if he ran the ovals. I’m not sure what Grosjean’s and Coyne’s aspirations are for this partnership, but […]

I’ve always been a K-mag fan, and he seems to be relishing being at a top team with a good car capable of winning the venerable Daytona 24. Good for him!

That photo took me a bit by surprise. I never noticed before that Seb had that going on!
Given the opportunity (yeah, right), I think that I’d rather have a go in the MP4/4 than the MCL35.
If he even made it that far. With more conventionally wealthy parents, the money probably would have dried up before then, and I doubt that he would have ever stood out enough to attract any really big sponsorships.
I fail to see what reducing the track time by an hour on Fridays is supposed to accomplish. All the work to get the teams and cars to the track remains the same. Presumably, all the normal garage crew and other […]

Grosjean has some questions, but how the halo managed to help cleave through the Armco barrier is not one of them.
schooner commented on the post, No replacement for Aston Martin as Red Bull's title sponsor 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I don’t see how Haas could keep that guy on now even if they wanted to. He is pure poison. I also wonder how they will cope without the Mazepin millions.
schooner commented on the post, Wolff insists Mercedes will not replace Bottas with Russell for 2021 4 months, 4 weeks ago
I think I know what you mean, but as long as the Mercedes cars are finishing most races in first and second places, Bottas is not a waste of a great seat. Both cars can’t win the race. From Mercedes prospective, […]
schooner commented on the post, Norris gained nine places at start after watching 'every onboard' from last race 5 months ago
If Sainz’s quote wasn’t from a race 3 months ago, it would be easy to read it as a direct reply and a major dig to Verstappen. As you say, the difference in attitudes could hardly be starker.
schooner commented on the post, Perez says he could have kept Russell behind after taking first win 5 months ago
If Perez does manage to get Albon’s seat for next year, I’m sure it will be EXTREMELY satisfying for him to consistently have Vettel and Stroll in his rear view mirrors.
In my mind, Mercedes really have nothing left to prove in F1. So maybe they should just save themselves how ever many 10’s of millions, give Russell the drive, and let Lewis find somewhere else to go next year. I […]
I absolutely wish Hamilton all the best and hope he gets well soon, but whatever happens here will likely make for a much more interesting race weekend than watching him motor off into the distance…again.
schooner commented on the post, Vettel "tried not to look" at video of Grosjean's crash 5 months, 1 week ago
You could say that the very fact that the accident was being shown over and over again was a positive thing. If Grosjean had been seriously injured or worse, the directors probably wouldn’t have shown it at all.

I’ve always seen a “tank slapper” as a huge wobble that you pretty much get away with. This was a bit more than a tank slapper.
