Tambeau commented on the post, F1 intends to keep racing in Saudi Arabia despite missile attack 1 year, 2 months ago
Russia invades Ukraine and the Grand Prix is rightly cancelled and all Russian investors and their money rejected. Why, because it’s the right thing to do, to show Russia that you can’t just kill civilians in a […]

Tambeau commented on the post, Formula 1 confirms it will not race in Russia this year 1 year, 3 months ago
Erdogan is a xenophobic dictator, and I am disgusted that F1 races in China, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and refuse to watch the races or even take notice of the results.
What is your point?

Tambeau commented on the post, Domenicali says F1 will be a positive force in Qatar amid human rights concerns 1 year, 8 months ago
@ricod I did boycott the Qatar GP in the eighties :) But seriously I am old enough and did boycott the South African GP, although back then it only meant missing a half hour replay program at 11pm.
But the […]

By the way, don’t mention Oatar or $audi Aradia as your comment will fall into the well of moderation, only to appear 3 days later, once everyone else has moved past the discussion.

@geemac I fully understand the politics behind the statue of a respected slave trader being thrown in the water, on that I think we do agree.
But everything in life operates on a sliding scale, shoplifting and […]

Tambeau commented on the post, Domenicali says F1 will be a positive force in Qatar amid human rights concerns 1 year, 8 months ago
Bit unsure if you agree or disagree with my point.
F1 hasn’t changed human rights for the better in the countries they race in, but they have made the countries look “normal” and legitimate.
If you are […]

Tambeau commented on the post, Domenicali says F1 will be a positive force in Qatar amid human rights concerns 1 year, 8 months ago
If apartheid era South Africa had oil and gas reserves like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan etc, then it would probably still be in power, despite the horrendous human rights abuses.
As you say the big […]

Stefano may be right, just look at the great improvements in human rights that have occured in China, Singapore, Turkey, Azerbijan, since F1 has been racing there. ;)

Tambeau commented on the post, The changes which will make next year's F1 cars "more difficult" to drive 1 year, 8 months ago
Given that these new cars will only have basic suspension, no ABS, no traction control or any modern driver aids, can we finally give up on this pathetic excuse of “road relevance” whenever engine technology is […]

What is it with these people that object to a simple mask to prevent the spread of disease, but happily wear a tin foil hat to stop the elite from controlling their “brains” through the chips in a vaccine.
Was […]

Tambeau commented on the post, F1 teams want increase for "extremely challenging" 790kg limit in 2022 1 year, 8 months ago
You could probably drop about 10kg per wheel, just by dropping down to 13″ rims. So smaller brake disks, calipers, less weight so smaller tethers and mountings, more tyre wall flex so smaller suspension parts. The […]

When (or if) they all go to Saudi Arabia, then you’ll see what’s the worst that could happen. This is a state that will quite happily murder journalists, imprison and torture women for driving, has the death […]

Tambeau commented on the post, Montoya shocked by cockpit heat in first IndyCar Aeroscreen test 2 years, 1 month ago
I’m not a racing car designer, but surely fresh air vents could be the answer. Sounds like a very simple problem to solve, or perhaps the lack of air is being used as the excuse by those who only want fully open cockpits.

Tambeau commented on the post, Track limits policy did not change during race despite Hamilton's warning, says Masi 2 years, 2 months ago
Masi is quoted as saying “We had two people that were looking in that area at every car, every lap and pretty much every car bar one was doing the right thing”, so 2 stewards saw a car going wide at turn 4 on […]

I agree in principle with Lewis Hamilton that “We have to figure out how we can engage more, how we can really utilise this platform to encourage and push for change.” But the truth is, that’s not what hap […]

Spain didn’t have the money or political will to fund it.
This is cheap advertising for Saudi Arabia, the millions or printed words, photos, hours of news coverage, and discussions like this, would cost a […]

I think you are swerving way off topic, and to bring historical actions of a country into it is just wrong.
Should we ban Italy because of Roman gladiator fights, Mexico because the Aztecs were bad, or Russia […]

@us-brian I totally agree, the only thing that would work is a boycott.

Tambeau commented on the post, As Saudi Arabia joins 2021 calendar, Hamilton urges F1 not to ignore human rights 2 years, 6 months ago
The biggest stand any driver or team could make is to refuse to race in Saudi Arabia.
The fall out would be huge, the Saudi government would be constantly asked about it, even by non-racing media. It would be […]
