Tim M commented on the post, Alonso: F1 faces 'a huge problem for the future' if stewards don't cancel penalty 3 months, 1 week ago
“Good news Fernando, we just made you the 2012 world champ because Vettel maybe, might have missed a yellow flag indicator a decade ago”.
Tim M commented on the post, Alonso: F1 faces 'a huge problem for the future' if stewards don't cancel penalty 3 months, 1 week ago
Haas’s complaint should be that they feel they’re shown the black and orange flag for damage when other teams are not. If Alpine and Red Bull aren’t shown the black and orange flag, then Haas’s complaint should be […]
Tim M commented on the post, Drivers' salaries should not be capped as 'they use us more to promote F1' – Alonso 8 months ago
Indeed, ultimately everything comes from one pot of money per team, and you have a point about financial sustainability of the teams vs limiting teams from spending their way to victory.
I’m not arguing that […]
Tim M commented on the post, Drivers' salaries should not be capped as 'they use us more to promote F1' – Alonso 8 months ago
While Alonso has a point, even if you capped driver’s salaries, there would be ways that they would work around that with sponsor money or other revenue streams, and the drivers would likely get paid similarly. […]
Tim M commented on the post, Alpine complain they had no say over penalty which cost Alonso points 8 months, 4 weeks ago
While this is definitely a deserved penalty, the idea that a racer would cut a chicane to increase the gap enough so the follower wouldn’t have DRS just underscores how DRS has too big of an effect on a race. It […]
Tim M commented on the post, F1 teams want increase for "extremely challenging" 790kg limit in 2022 1 year, 4 months ago
You’re correct. I actually think that there’s a hidden feature here – teams will have to choose whether to have a heavier, longer wheelbase car, or a lighter short wheelbase car – and accept the tradeoffs. More […]

*wouldn’t. Dang autocorrect.
Tim M commented on the post, 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix Ferrari 1000 race result 2 years, 4 months ago
I would at have predicted that in a crash strewn race, somehow Grojean is one of the finishers.
Tim M commented on the post, Williams offers team for sale after £13m loss and terminates Rokit sponsorship deal 2 years, 8 months ago
There has been rumors and subtext over the past few years that there are large systemic management issues at Williams. Is it the board?, is it Claire Williams?, etc. If Williams finds a buyer, there will likely be […]
Tim M commented on the post, F1's Virtual Grand Prix can be great, if they dare to go bigger and better 2 years, 10 months ago
The way I see it, there are two aspects that needs to be looked into further for virtual grand prix’s: the lack of danger, and lack of physical logistics.
Why bother racing on the same venues as the regular […]
Tim M commented on the post, New Renault feels "well-born" – Ocon 2 years, 11 months ago
Ocon isn’t much taller than Hulkenberg, so Renault should be used to accommodating taller drivers.

Please don’t conflate the actions of the US government with an American company, who very well may not agree with those actions.
Tim M commented on the post, Gasly: Kvyat pass shows impact of lower tyre temperatures 3 years, 10 months ago
I’m more a fan of removing rules, but convoluting convoluted rules should be F1’s motto.
Tim M commented on the post, Gasly: Kvyat pass shows impact of lower tyre temperatures 3 years, 10 months ago
I think a good tweak to the fastest lap point is that it’s available to anyone (not just the top 10), but only counts towards the constructor’s championship. This way, it wouldn’t affect the WDC, give the teams […]
Tim M commented on the post, 2018 F1 driver rankings #4: Alonso 4 years, 1 month ago
@kgn11, that’s funny to me, because I find the exact opposite to be true here. I don’t have a horse in this race. As you might expect on this site, there are a few fervent fan commenters for many of the drivers, […]
Tim M commented on the post, Alonso 'urged McLaren to sabotage Hamilton's race' at Hungary in 2007 4 years, 2 months ago
I’m amazed that among the multi part BBC article, that had a lot of different interesting pieces of info that I hadn’t read before, that this is the headline and article chosen to pull from it.
Tim M commented on the post, Ocon: I've been in tougher situations than this 4 years, 5 months ago
If all 4 were lured into racing IndyCar next year, then that would be quite the coup for the sport. As an American, I’d certainly make the effort to see them race mire than once a year.
Tim M commented on the post, Alonso takes new chassis after Spa crash 4 years, 5 months ago
Supposedly the new engine spec has a different layout or dimensions, which requires a change to the chassis. McLaren are apparently done with the 2018 car, and are solely focused on the 2019 car.
Tim M commented on the post, Gasly expects Red Bull to "push Honda massively" in 2019 4 years, 6 months ago
Also, he was racing his teammate for a position out of the points, which makes it even more absurd. I remember watching on tv at the time, and it was such a spectacular crash that the clip was shown on sports news […]

@keithcollantine Unless my eyes deceive me; Alonso is missing from the visual gap. Still though, there’s almost a second between Ricciardo and Hulkenberg.
