When was the last time a single national anthem was played? Would it have been Japan 2016 when Rosberg won for Mercedes?

How many times in the history of F1 has it rained between the opening of the pit lane and the start of the race?
Surely yesterday’s weather conditions posed a totally unique situation…. Bottas and Stroll are […]

Imagine if Hungary also had Friday Qualifying and Saturday Sprint thing?
Would Redbull risk running a potentially broken engine and risk missing Qualifying if they do not manage to swap engines in time? […]
Without the Sprint Qualifying, Lewis would have started on pole and rather likely there would not have been a collision with Max.
X1Znet commented on the post, "They love it": Brawn enthused by fans' early reaction to sprint qualifying 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Like most of the other comments, I wonder who are the “they” Ross Brawn is referring to. F1 was in a bubble of it’s own before COVID and now it appears that bubble has isolated them from reality even […]
X1Znet commented on the post, Norris "not in perfect condition" but glad to be back in F1 paddock 2 weeks, 5 days ago
COTD is spot on…. but it begs the question as to why teams have continued to develop cars that only work perfectly in ideal conditions which is being is clear air on a windless day. Shouldn’t every midfield […]
Sorry for multiple posts — link didn’t go through in last post.
It is not deja vu, it’s an actual memory. Smedley was at AWS re:Invent 2019 (December 2019).
The words “face-melting stats” are spoken at the 8:44 mark:
I’m having deja vu — I’m sure I’ve heard the “face-melting computing power” quote before. Wasn’t Smedley at an Amazon event a couple years ago talking about all this?

Call me evil, but I hope the Sprint Qualifying Race has carnage on the level of the start of the 1998 Belgian GP. Teams cannot afford that much damage with cost-cap — some can hardly afford race-day damage […]
You correctly refer to IndyCar throughout your post but do not mention that the Canadian CART races (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver) were sponsored by the Molson brewery and were always called the Molson Indy (which […]

Aren’t the sprint races something that conflict with the idea of cost cutting?
I hope the sprint race leads to lots of expensive damage — that’s one way the teams will decide it is not worth it.

You must have seen a different interview with Lando than I did because he was grinning ear to ear in the one I saw and was in no way gutted.

COTD: “Schumacher era” (96-07) Ferraris also look different in person than on television, and I think prior to that, the unique Ferrari red was also different in print due to limitations of CYMK printing.
X1Znet commented on the post, Mercedes queried FIA over pit stop procedures last month 1 month, 1 week ago
The whole thing is a ploy by the FIA to distract us from the fact that they have no clue how to deal with track limits once and for all.
Personally, I believe the rain showers that cleaned the existing rubber from the track was probably more significant that changes to the track or surface.
I remember the same thing happening in Montreal years ago […]

To me, it looks like the blue is too pale. The first pics I saw with the white background made me think it was orange and white. The darker background makes it look more blue, but it still looks paler even in […]

Agreed: F1 qualifying is not dull nor does need any kind of fixing.
