Nick Fry is continuing to defend BAR against allegations that Jenson Button’s car ran underweight at Imola. It spent six hours in scrutinerring before being passed by the stewards, but the decision was bizarrely appealed against by the FIA and BAR face a potential ban if the appeal is successful. “Does anyone really think that we would deliberately do anything against the rules?” said Fry. Well, Max Mosley does, apparently. BAR are a staunch member of the ‘group of seven’ whose strict testing restriction has been undermined by the Ferrari and FIA, but if this is a political ploy by the FIA the meaning of it is not yet clear.
