Why have the Friday practice sessions been brought forward from previous seasons? Previously FP1 took place from (local times) 18:00 to 19:30 and FP2 from 21:30 to 23:00, but this year they’ll be 16:30-18:00 and 20:30-22:00 respectively. What’s the reason/s behind it?

FWIW, I’ve been using the Now TV Sky F1 streams and they’ve been excellent. Great video quality, almost never buffers. Not free and not super cheap but worth it, IMO.

I have found it pretty reliable since after the first time I used it. It once in a while says there was a problem but it is just the case of selecting the channel again and then it is fine. However, the first time I used it (which was for the Canadian Grand Prix) the stream was terrible. Annoyingly it worked fine until just before the race which often is when a load of people start watching it. This is what I dislike about network streaming, when it gets busy, it can occasionally get out of control and be really bad image quality. The same happened when I started using Amazon prime for The Grand Tour episodes. Because so many watched it at the same time, the image quality and amount of buffering was shocking concidering it was pay TV.
I don’t know why this happened to NOW TV but for over 75% of the race, the screen looked worse than 240p and all the graphics of the drivers positions and times were unreadable. I knew my network was fine as I tested it at the time. I took a picture of it and compared when it was working normally towards the end of the race and sent them both to NOW TV and luckily they offered to give me a free week pass for the next race weekend. They have been working fine ever since but my first experience wasn’t very good at all.
The other thing that disappoints me about this is that it is only 720p. You get full 1080p totally free on Channel 4 on Freeview. I think I have worked out that if you want to have at leased 1080p with Sky, you need to buy their package on Cable TV or one of their boxes. So first of all you need to be a Sky customer, which to me costs a lot, then buy the sports channel that you want on top of that and then this just works out really expensive. Such a shame sky is taking over all the free UK coverage in 2019 for their 6 year deal. I hope they make some cheaper, better quality options than they do now.
