Sergio Perez revealed he suffered from dizziness during Saturday’s qualifying session at the Hungaroring.

The Racing Point driver took fourth on the grid for Sunday’s race, but fell behind team mate Lance Stroll in the final round of qualifying having led him early on.

Speaking afterwards Perez revealed he felt unwell at times during the one-hour session.

“I didn’t feel 100% physically during the qualifying,” he said. “I was getting dizziness throughout the qualifying and that’s not great.

“I think I need to check with FP2 what’s going on. I should be okay for tomorrow.”

Racing Point swept the second row of the grid for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

“I think it’s a great result for the team,” said Perez. “We looked good all the way through.

“So I’m happy with the team result and hopefully tomorrow we can put it together in the race and score a lot of points for the team.”

Stroll took third on the grid for Racing Point. “The car was really strong all the way through qualifying, throughout the weekend, really,” he said. “We’ve had the pace and it was just about piecing it together during that qualifying session.

“So a really great job by all the guys and I’m really pleased with the session and now set on tomorrow, going to try and grab some big points.”

  1. Vettel is not getting dizzy in spaceships…

    Just mentioning.

  2. I would too Checo if someone like Lance Stroll beat me in a dry qualifying, Lance is actually very capable in the wet. But in the dry he is not match. Can you imagine Ves or Lec in the RP? These drivers should be getting 3rd very week with the car they have we will see if it happens as i aint conviced they will

  3. Let’s hope it’s not COVID19 😉

    1. More like copied 19

  4. Former F1 engineer Enrique Scalabroni said dizziness could be the result of high down force Perez never has been experience before on Force India/Racing Point.

  5. Was Lawrence Stroll preparing the driver lunches today?…Need some justification for dropping Perez over Lance :)

    1. Who knows? Or maybe the fumes, and oil coming out of all mercs, all cars come back to the pits drenched in oil.
Stroll isn’t gifted, talent wise, but he’s super aggressive, he does try harder than anyone out there, maybe with a good car that works, it works in the wet.

  6. Uh oh… Dizziness is one of the symptoms of C19… Hope he is tested with a rapid turn around test.
