IndyCar’s race on the streets of Nashville will host its season finale from 2024, the series has announced.
The third running of the event will take place this weekend on the 3.37 kilometre circuit. A revised and slightly extended circuit measuring 3.49 kilometres will be used from next year. The revised circuit will retain the distinctive run across the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge and run through Nashville’s Honky-Tonk music district.
Mark Miles, president and CEO of the Penske Entertainment Corporation which owns IndyCar, said the event’s promoters will take their final race of the season “to an even higher peak on the global stage.”
“Next year’s race in Nashville will be an unbridled celebration of the most fierce and competitive motorsport on the planet, set against the backdrop of an innovative and breathtaking stage that includes one of the premier global entertainment districts in the world.”
Nashville will replace Laguna Seca as the venue of IndyCar’s season finale. It will hold the final race next month for the fourth time in the last six years, having missed out in 2020 and 2021 due to disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Miles confirmed IndyCar will continue to race at Laguna Seca next year, calling it “a beloved, historic venue for our teams, drivers and fans in an important and scenic market,”.
“The fact that IndyCar has chosen Nashville and the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix as the crowning event is a testament to our fans, partners, stakeholders and truly the Nashville hospitality industry as a whole,” he added.
“The ability to promote our city and state year-round and bring our race into the heart of Nashville is an absolute honour. The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix continues to grow to levels that I never dreamed could have been possible.”

Not a fan of that. Assuming that the championship will go down to the final race, I would prefer a traditional road course to round out the year. Street courses are great, but always more susceptible to 6+ full course cautions that make it more of a lottery. That’s fine mid season, but not for a decider
Hopefully this year’s race in Nashville is less ridiculous than last year.

Looks worse than the Las Vegas GP layout …
Even Sear’s Point / Sonoma was a better location for a series finale than this …

Sure, sure, September. So April next year at the earliest.
