BTCC Round 9: Silverstone

The BTCC returns to the Silverstone National circuit this weekend as the season nears its conclusion with Gordon Shedden leading the championship at this time.
Chris Stockton returns to the championship for the final two rounds to drive Thorney’s Vauxhall Insignia, a step up from the unreliable Lexus cars he mainly ran in his last stint in the BTCC.
Howard Fuller is once again filling in for Tony Gilham at Team HARD, my guess is Tony is selling drives in his car for each round to fund an NGTC programme for 2013 which he has made clear is the intention. Fuller did quite well at ‘the Rock’ so it will be interesting to see what he can do again this weekend.
Liam Griffin returns in an S2000 Focus with Motorbase (probably the chassis which Mat Jackson used up until Croft) and Lea Wood returns in the BINZ Racing Vauxhall Vectra so we’ll have a slightly bigger grid this weekend!
I’ll be going to the race hoping that Gordon Shedden successfully defends his championship lead going on to Brands while spending the weekend in the Pirtek hospitality unit. Unlike his two title rivals, Shedden races fast and he races clean. So is anyone else going?
