If you are really keen to watch a live F1 broadcast on those race days where the BBC does not transmit live (German GP for example), it is actually quite easy and very cheap.

Assuming that you already have a SAT receiver (you will need to buy one if you don’t!), then all you need is a second dish aimed at Astra 19.2°, where most of the German TV channels are placed. Then you need a small unit that is cheap to buy on ebay, less that 10 UK Pounds usually to mix the signals from both dishes to your receiver. Or if you already have a SAT Receiver with a dual tuner, attach the new dish directly to the second input.

Do a channel search and look for “RTL Televison” (there are several RTL transmissions for you, one each for Swtzerland, Germany and Austria. Only the advertisements are different!!

Sadly, there are ads, sometimes with a F1 window, but its far better than nothing.

They transmit live on race day at 13:00 UK time European races, but as a rule, you Guys here will know what time it is live….

If you live in the UK, tune in on a radio to BBC 5 Live and that is where you will have your live English commentary. Mute the TV. It is transmitted via analogue radio in AM on medium wave 693 and 909 kHz and digitally via digital radio, television and via an Internet stream.

Due to the fact that I am living in Germany, I actually tune a second SAT receiver to BBC Radio 5 Live online….

    Thats it!

If anyone needs extra help, just ask.

    Regards
