20th September 2015, 9:25 at 9:25 am #305553Curtis UnicombParticipantI am going to the Australian GP in 2016 in April. It is going to be great. I have been every year since 2012 and enjoy every moment of it.

8th October 2015, 15:02 at 3:02 pm #306655Daniel WattsParticipantJust purchased my tickets. Am coming from England and visiting my brother in Australia, and thought it would be rude not to coincide my visit with the GP! I see the tickets includes Thursday, I’ve been too many GPs before and have never had a Thursday ticket. Does anyone know what this Thursday day is for?
12th October 2015, 12:24 at 12:24 pm #306982DavidSParticipant@danwat There’s quite a lot of support categories doing races and qualifying sessions on the Thursday, but it’s not nearly as full on as the Saturday and Sunday rosters. The off-track attractions are also running on the Thursday. Autographs and driver spotting are usually done on the Thursday.
Depending on your ticket, if you have GP advantage, there are some events you can access. In the afternoon, Gold GP advantage tickets can go on a pit lane walk. It’s a rather large crowd, and you get herded past the garages rather swiftly. If you’ve ordered your ticket recently, you won’t qualify for Gold GP Advantage anyway, so that isn’t an option.
My opinion is that you would get more value out of doing something else in Melbourne on the Thursday.

I thought it may be driver spotting and autograph sessions.
I have GP advantage, not the gold membership, although not necessarily sure what the GP advantage gets me!14th October 2015, 5:09 at 5:09 am #307083AmbroseRPMParticipantI do recommend going on the Thursday. I found it lots of fun and it gives you some experience around the grounds so on Friday you know where you are going. It is also good to practice your commute to the track on the Thursday if you are unsure. (I did get lost that day so it helped me for the next three days). The V8 Supercars Practice and Qualifying is interesting and you can get very close to their garages if you are interested.
Daniel, I am guessing if you have the ‘Silver GP advantage’. There is a pit walk on the Thursday morning which is rather interesting. Also certain areas are GP advantage only (bars etc.) which is nice.
Hopefully I can make it to the GP from Sydney this year. I just have to convince someone else…😟
