It’s a couple of years since I was last at Spa but we stayed in a hotel in Liege. This involved a train journey to the circuit every day (with plenty of other racegoers) but we got a decent hotel and a great time away from the circuit. Liege has plenty of places to eat to suit all budgets, some nice bars and the odd club if you want to make more of your evenings. For us, we had a bit of a weekend break away experiencing Belgian culture as well as seeing the racing and I would recommend it for anyone with reservations about camping, I heard lots of stories of miserable camping experiences as we chatted to various people at the circuit.
We went for general admission tickets and moved around during the sessions, including the race, so we saw the action from all the corners. I would personally always do this as I like to experience the racing at the circuit in the flesh and sitting in one place gives you only one small piece.
In short, don’t discount staying in Liege, there is a transfer involved, but lot of other benefits imo.Much better this year than last, no more Racer1 “FROM” Racer2 “FROM” Racer3 “FROM” Racer4 etc. (Legard, just read the f***ing order out)
Brundle also seems to make far less errors than Legard, made me sick last year when I can see a drivers crash and Legard goes on for 30 seconds about his team mate because he can’t tell the drivers apart.
With MB and DC the chemistry is obvious and as others have said their understanding of F1 is supreme due to their direct experience within it.
They are doing well considering there is so much action to deal with, while ever the action is this frantic, so will be the commentary.
I’ve learnt to live with EJ as his comments are now less ridiculous than when he first became a pundit on the BBC.
Just an idea. Maybe he does that sailing event every year because it is important to him and he insists it’s in his contract that he can be free on this weekend. If I was as rich as him, there would be many things I would not be willing to sacrifice for work.
No one has mentioned The Hulk, great track record coming through to f1, then that pole last yr and a decent finish to his season. Thought of by some in the paddock as a future wdc.
I like Koboyashi myself but think Ferrari would go more for someone like The Hulk.
A few f1 journos have said Alo doesn’t want Kubica at Ferrari and that’s why he wasn’t signed by Ferrari for the 2011 season. If Alo had no say I would want Kubica in the car (assuming he’s not lost any speed due to the accident)
I think the wing must be built to flex when vertical load is combined with horizontal load. AFAIK the FIA tests are purely a vertical load placed on the wing when the car is stationary. The wing is therefore not subject to any Horizontal load which occurs as rearwards drag when the car is actually moving.
A stationary test that comes to mind would be to use a cord to pull the wing both down and backwards while measuring the appropriate load being applied. Depending on how you position the machine used to apply the pulling force I guess you could use any angle from 100% vertical (180 degrees) to 100% horizontal (90 degrees). That should be able mimic the combination of vertical and horizontal load occurring when the car is moving.
After seeing the Red Bull wing move around so violently in Button’s wake at Spa, I think it is better to just ban the flexing at the end of the season, than have most of the teams turn up with it on their car next year.
I have a full HD tv and would buy a freeview or freesat HD tuner if F1 was in HD. Bernie is being an arsehole over HD in my book. The other major sports already have it, but F1 is not only behind but will stay behind for another 2 years on Bernies stupid timetable.

generally I think this site gets off quite well with the quality of comments.
There are some trolls which make me want to not bother reading or commenting but these tend to raise their head only when something happens involving Hamilton or some minor scandal. The F1technical.net forum suffers from this greatly and large amounts of threads are spent by people wasting time arguing with one of two arseholes trolling rather than adding constructive info and opinion to the thread.
I think you should keep one eye on this as it tends to be the same people with the outrageous opinion they arrogantly ram down people’s throat as fact. Having the ability to warn and then block these people for ruining a thread of comments would be a big bonus. I can’t bring myself to read through loads of trolling crap and would probably stop reading and posting if it got bad.
I’ll have a McLaren top on at Silverstone this year but I like a lot of the teams and drivers.
Easier to say who I’m not fond of.
Vettel doesn’t do it for me, I don’t like all the hype. I don’t think he’s delivered yet to be worthy of it. He also showed some of his true colours, that he believes he is the chosen one and everyone else should gift him the wins.
Barrichello, I don’t like his tantrums. Bad mouthing Brawn last year, throwing his steering wheel out of the car this. Don’t think he cares that much about the work his team do when all is said and done or at least when he has a chip on his shoulder he doesn’t consider others.
Alonso, as a person although I think he has redeemed himself a bit after his spoilt brat season at McLaren. It’s now down to the fact he seems so miserable all the time. He’s driving for Ferrari, he should be smiling. Respect him as a driver though.

Did like Force India, can’t bring myself to like them now because of Vijay. Had reservations over the way he handled the management restructuring after the first year. Then some of the comments about Fisi going to Ferrari. Now the Lotus issues this year. Don’t like vindictive whiners. Take it like a man, concentrate on boosting your own team not dragging others down.
Maybe RedBull now after the Turkish Grand Prix. Have always liked Webber, he’s always struck me as a very honest, honourable down to earth driver who’s been unlucky. Thought his treatment from Red Bull after the Turkish Grand Prix stunk.
Petrov has done ok but hardly an amazing start to the season. Hulkenburg disappointing so far. Rest of them can’t really mix it up with the big boys because their car is too slow or like Koboyashi it fails before the finish. He’s only finished two races and has got a 10th and a 12th result. He’s also out qualified his team mate 4 out of the 7 races so as a rookie the potential is there for him to be rookie of the year if Sauber can sort out their reliability issues.
