“Lewis: I’m in front of Alonso” screamed The Sun today.

It doesn’t sound like the sort of thing Hamilton would say about his team mate. And, sure enough, it’s not.

The only remark Hamilton is quoted making about Alonso in the whole article is this:

We have all been working to reduce the gap to Ferrari and I will do my best with Fernando and the team towards this in Malaysia

The hype-ometer is quivering up the scale…

  1. The Sun always seems to do this. They build someone up and then knock them down when they’re not performing as well as expected. They’ll easily forget Lewis has not put a foot wrong, and this is only his 2nd Grand Prix.

  2. What do you expect from tabloids like The Sun? As far as they’re concerned, everything and everyone is one extreme or the other, and if you’re lucky, they might just remember what they wrote on the subject the previous day…

  3. Never saw anything like this before. When you think about it though never a truer word spoken.
