Pierre Gasly and Sergio Perez will face no action over the stewards for the last-lap collision which left the Racing Point driver in the barriers.
After studying video of the collision, the stewards ruled both drivers were partly responsible for the contact.“Cars 11 and 10 while transiting turns 1 and 2 side by side, with car 11 attempting an outside pass, made contact near the apex of turn 2, causing car 11 to leave the track,” the stewards noted.
“Both drivers contributed to the contact as car 11, who was slightly in front and on the outside of the track took a narrow line towards the apex of turn 2, while car 10 on the inside of the
track, and likely not fully visible to car 11, did not take as tight a line as was possible through the apex prior to the contact. No driver is judged wholly at fault.”
The incident took place on the 53rd lap of the race. This was the final scheduled lap, however due to an error the race distance was cut short and the results taken from the positions on lap 52. Perez was therefore classified in ninth position.

I asked elsewhere but this seems a more relevant place. Could the stewards actually penalise Gasly? The race had technically already ended due to the flag incident so the incident with Perez didn’t happen? Like a penalty decision being overturned because the player was off-side.

Yep, you can’t go ballistic on a cool down lap, racing rules might have ended but track safety rules are in full effect

It wasnt cooldown lap as Gasly is classified to be ahead of Perez. It was cooldown lap nutcase(like vettel) then that lost position to Perez is already penalty enough for Gasly in terms of lost points

I wonder the same thing. Surely they couldn’t give anyone a time penalty for something that officially happened after the race had ended. However I’m sure they could at least hand out a grid penalty for the next round.

Race Directoion incompetence meant this wasn’t even the last lap, it was the lap after the official end of the race.
What a mess the management of this race was. .
