  1. It’s surprisingly hard to think of a standout performer here.

Max, Checo, Charles, Alonso, Russell all did competent jobs, largely alone
Piastri couldn’t pull off a pass on Hamilton
Norris false-started and couldn’t catch Bearman
Hamilton defended well from Piastri, but couldn’t snipe Norris (and was slower than Russell all weekend)
Hulkenberg nabbed 10th, but mostly thanks to his teammate’s rough driving
Albon did well in the midfield scrap
Ocon did great to put his car in that conversation
Tsunoda went backwards in the melee
Sargeant and Ricciardo weren’t even in the conversation

Purely on performances, I would give it to Ocon (or Verstappen)

But as there were no standout performers: for sentiment’s sake, well done Bearman. Best performance by anyone who missed Free Practice 1 and 2.

    1. Has anyone seen a review or analysis of how Norris wasn’t considered to have jumped the start? It looked like a slam dunk watching it live.

  2. All 20 drivers still can win the World Drivers Championship!

    1. Yeah, as Sainz returns, only Bearmen doesnt have a shot on the title.
Other than that is a free for all.

  3. VER almost already has 1 DNF advantage over LEC.
Given that there a margin of 10pts awarded for a 1st place and a 3rd place, and given that we cannot assume that LEC will score more than 15pts every race, particularly considering that SAI would appear on the podium every other race, VER will have 100pts advantage by mid season.
So, we will have a situation similar to 2023: by August, the WDC wouldnt be mathematically decided, but whoever is chasing would need to win every race and VER not even finishing 3rd.

  4. Apologies in advance if I’m being exceptionally dim here, but my arithmetic has Leclerc finishing less than 5 seconds behind Perez (4.996 secs) so he should have been classified 2nd. What am I missing?!

    1. He finished 9.996s after Perez om track, which is 4.996 in the final standing

    2. @paulista34 it was 4.9secs after the penalty was applied.

      1. Thank you @afonic; I was, indeed, being exceptionally dim!

  5. Sorry if it is common knowledge, but why don’t we have time differences in race result?

  6. Oliver Bearman stole the show. Max and Alonso stood out. Oscar Piastri stood back.

And notice, George Russell more than doubles his teammate This season might be a replay of the Jenson Button/Takuma Sato rivalry.
