   What a qualifying & ending. S3 proved decisive.
   Checo will struggle to even reach the top 10 if/when the race is dry.

   Wow, only Max could pull that off. Would have been a heck of a race with Nando on pole. Max will likely set sail

   Damn, Fernando had a poor last sector :(

   Had he won the Pole Position at 41yo, it would’ve been a great statement in memory of Schumacher’s Pole Position effort at 41yo.

      Verstappen had great final sectors the whole day, while quite often not nailing the first corner, and hence the 1st sector, which is where Alonso nailed it; I feel it is also partly setup/car related too. Ocon and Alonso probably set the best laps for their cars, and Verstappen was at his own solid level to nail it in a slightly faster car, IMO.

      Aston has been 2-3 tenths slower than the RB through the final sector all weekend. When I saw Max was only 2 tenths down at end of sector 2, I figured he had the pole. Sky commentators made the same mistake earlier in the session too, but it was quite consistent with his earlier gains in that sector.

      Still, great qualy session and so little to choose between anyone at the end. Very glad it wasn’t ruined by any yellow or red flags.

      Schumacher was already 43 when he won the 2012 qualifying.

   I rather wanted Alonso to take it but got to admit that last sector from Verstappen was incredible.

      No, it wasn’t, it was Alonso’s 3rd sector that was slow.

         If Alonso was pushing so hard in S1 and S2, he would always run out of tyres for S3.

            Andre, so true about today’s tires, They’re only good for about 2/3 of a lap.

   Alonso disappointed. It looked like he was the worst of all in the last sector, losing so much time on every attempt. Verstappen just smashed him and gained almost three tenths in like four or five corners.
   So, given his very bad starting position on the outside, Alonso will be third at best into the first corner, and third at finish, if he is lucky.

      Nah, no one’s overtaking into Turn 1. Hopefully we get some rain and some carnage. I can’t watch a 70 lap train no matter how beautiful Monaco is.

      You got to remember the tires. Some say the softs are so bad that one has to decide to either burn them upmin the first part of the lap, and then baby them for the remainder of the lap, or baby them for the first part of the lap, and burn them up during the last part.

      I think racing would be a whole lot different with Michelins.

   Solid performances from Perez and Stroll. What they are doing in those two cars is incredible.

   Well, 3 place grid penalty for Leclerc, Ferrari’s somewhat lackluster day got just that bit worse. And again, due to completely preventable incident that wasn’t managed well by the team/driver.
