I just saw the information that Mugello track has been given Grade 1 status which means it can now host F1 race (source here, in French).

I wonder if it is another step towards getting rid of Monza and moving to Mugello, or if Ferrari is just getting ready to guarantee an Italian GP in the case Monza drop.

Let’s hope they keep Monza anyway, quite a unique race on the calender.

Very interesting. If Monza did go, Mugello wouldn’t be a bad replacement. It’s a great classic-style track, with lots of medium-to-high speed corners.

I also certainly wouldn’t mind having both of them on the calendar! Could be the return of the San Marino GP, Mugello is about the same distance from San Marino as Imola…

As I’ve said before, I would love to see Mugello on the calender but not at the cost of Monza, and rather Mugello than Imola.

@rachelm Well, we lost the French GP (The French GP was the first GP ever), so that kind of loss isn’t unprecedented.

The Nordschleife was also pretty iconic.
