21st April 2016, 13:20 at 1:20 pm #318284sato113ParticipantMy tips from last year:
Bring water and something to provide shade. I had a thin blanket which I used as a sail, covering my face and neck. It was soooo hot on the Friday, especially as you are walking around freely, sitting where you like.If going for all 3 days, buy an official 3 day train pass. There was a make-shift ticket counter at KL Sentral station, in the main lobby floor near the bottom of the escalator up to the shopping mall.
IMPORTANT: when you buy a ticket through the F1 website you receive an email with a barcode on it. THIS IS NOT YOUR TICKET! it’s just a pointless voucher. I mistakenly thought it was my ticket and at the circuit it took ages to get in as the staff were all confused with what I showed them. I was eventually escorted to a printer + computer inside the customer service building where I found the actual ticket in my emails.

Sepang area are quite a distance from KL city centre & accommodation especially during GP weekend are hard to get & pricey. Basically any hotel in KL that close to any LRT (Light Rail Transit) or Monorel service line where you can easily reach KL Sentral are good. Or find a hotel surrounding KL Sentral itself. From there you can reach Sepang Circuit by the KLIA Express / Transit or economically by airport shuttle bus services. Usually during race weekend there will be transportation package by KLIA Express.
For me personally the best seat vs price is at K1 Grand Stand.
Till then..

Yup but by Monorail which you can get it at KL Sentral as well & get down at Bukit Bintang Station, about 5 stations from KL Sentral.

Do you mean buy them when you arrive in Sepang? I am interested in getting K1 tickets but different websites are selling them for different prices.
@awizul I’m thinking of tying in a week of exploring Malaysia before the Grand Prix weekend (arrive in KL on the weekend before the race) and would appreciate any travel/accommodation tips you may have.25th June 2016, 14:27 at 2:27 pm #323266AnonymousInactiveHi Chris,
It depends on what you want to do apart from the F1. If you want to go to great restaurants for tea, go for a drink, some KL nightlife or do some sight seeing then you will need to stay in KL city. I think its normally 45min KL city to Sepang circuit but in F1 time more likely 1.5 to 2 hours. I done similar in Suzuka staying at Nagoya and its not that bad really.
If your are ONLY there for the F1 then you cant go past the Sama Sama. Its literally connected to the airport but only through a walk over and is about 150m from the airport. A great hotel, 2 or more bars and eating places and a great pool. We stayed in 2014 and we had no interest in anything but going from the hotel to the track, which is 15 min by taxi. It was awesome! You will see a heap of drivers walking about. So if you are only there for F1 this place is great and there are a few spots for meals and a drink, but not extensive. If you want to look around KL some don’t stay here as there is nothing else about the place, stay in KL city and do the commute each day. Either way, enjoy, Sepang is an excellent circuit, you will love it!
28th June 2016, 14:17 at 2:17 pm #323450@awizulParticipantSorry for late reply, the email notification seems not working. I’d suggest anybody who needs quicker response from me pls use my personal email [email protected] or WA me at +60166792979. I don’t like to keep any of you waiting.
Back to yr question @commonmonsoon, I’d advise you to get yr ticket straight from sepangcircuit website. You can opt for collection at box office so that u can keep the psychical ticket for souvenir. Just come on any of race weekend & exchange it at their ticket booth. Should be seamless, just need to que a bit.
As for advise on accomodation & places of interest within KL area pls PM me. I’d like to know yr preferences. In general as I always advising others, just stay nearby any subway station in KL and head to KL Sentral where you can find multiple ways to Sepang.
Cheers.

After a few years of not going to any F1 (Silverstone & Spa) decided on the spur of the moment to see one at Sepang lol.
Got everything pretty much sorted. Staying at the Traders as read that there is a bus pickup at KLCC which looking at google maps is a 5 min walk from the hotel. Anyone use this service, is it easy to locate? I know the trip time is longer compared with the train/bus service offered from Sentral just seems more convenient….or would it be better to catch a train from KLCC to Sentral and then use the express to the track?
Cannot wait :)
