Just found this thread and wow, what a great looking game! I can appreciate how much effort goes into something like that (I run a software company currently building apps). Count me in!

    Good Work!

    Disclaimer: I’m a Lewis fan.

I think you’ve summarised this particular dual well. Nico gifted Hamilton a podium at Malaysia, Hamilton’s unlucky run of tire incidents benefitted Nico.

However the question was how would you rate his first season, I’m going to give him a A-. Rewinding to the second half of 2012 the silver arrows were in terminal decline and the idea that anyone could get into the points let alone a win with that car was pure fantasy. Seeing how well Rosberg has done this season just underlines how much of a dog that car was.

Rolling forward to 2013 and with a second placed finish in the WCC and several other plaudits you have to say its a massive improvement, a lot of that (but not all) is down to Hamilton. I think another good way of rating his season is to ask yourself how much have McLaren missed him. McLaren have built shocking cars in the past but somehow Lewis would finally drag it into some sort of contention.

I think Lewis is right to point out that this car wasn’t really built for him, although they are friends the two drivers share different styles and history has proven its hard to jump into a car with little or no input into its development.

I actually think Lewis has got stronger this year and if Merc can finally solve the mystery of eating tires and in season development then he has to be one of the strongest contenders for the WDC.

@Tomsk “Testing on Mondays after selected GPs – also a reserve race-day for circuits at risk of delays due to wet climate or dodgy drainage.”

I think thats a brilliant idea, open testing (so no secret Maranello test camp for Ferrari) divided into a morning and afternoon session. I think this could work for the European races as I am sure the idea of flying people and parts all over the globe isn’t very appealing. It would also give the test days structure the FIA can police and fans could have access to.

    Best Driver: Button
    Worst Driver: Maldonado

    Worst Team: Lotus
Best Overtake: Button three abreast and taking two positions, I can’t recall the finer detail!
Funniest moment: Vettel telling Natalie Pinkham to back off on the drivers parade
Most Surprising Result: McLaren in 4th and 6th
Least Surprising Result: Chilton at the back
Special Mention to: Webber, the tough Aussie finally showing some emotion. When he took his hemet off will be remembered for a long time.
    Race Rating: 7/10

    Best BBC/Sky commentator/presenter: Ted Kravitz
Worst BBC/Sky commentator/ presenter: Damon this time around, he looked a little bored.
Best Commentary moment: Saying goodbye to these engines

@loup-garou @David-A – Yes, to be clear I think Vettel is a class act, otherwise I wouldn’t have rated him so highly. Also very aware of his time at STR.

What I should have said, I’d like to see him go through a similar transition as MSC. Remember those early seasons at Ferrari, for me they demonstrated how good he was. The car wasn’t the best but dragged it kicking across the finish line while building the foundations for future success. This may be with Red Bull, or another team, I really don’t care.

    ok, my turn…

    Favourite:

    1. Damon Hill – As Frank Williams said, he’s one tough SOB, forced his way into F1 and proof that nice guys can win
    2. Ayrton Senna – My boyhood hero
    3. Keke Rosberg – Cheered for him in ’85 at Brands Hatch with a bunch of drunk Finns (my first race)
    4. Lewis Hamilton – Who could ever forget that first season!
    5. Jenson Button – 2009, what a story.

    Best:

    1. Senna
    2. Prost
    3. Vettel – I really want to see this kid in an uncompetitive car.
    4. Alonso
    5. MSC – A great driver but the years of custom spec tires, ramming opponents off of the track and placid team mates taints his legacy for me.
