Yes, the cars would look very different, I would regulations limiting the size and placement of the flaps, Say 100mm x 150mm or so and they have to be placed no higher or lower than something complicated and obscure. But I think that it is fun to speculate
Well of course they would have to change the rules about active aero, but I think it is fun to speculate what “flapper” F1 cars would look like.
That’s actually what I was thinking of, a kind of primitive traction control activated by a stick in the cockpit

Ajokay, oooh, thanks, that looks really good.OK all, good points, but this doesn’t have to be realistic. What teams would you like to see enter, not necessarily could or should or even want to enter, but what would you like to see on the grid.
For example, I’m an American, I would love to see a revived Eagle, Shadow, or Ford/GM/Chrysler team, but I think it would be hilarious to see what a team backed entirely by private investors (Bill Gates, Donald Trump, etc.) would do. Please, take the idea and run with it.
I too am a little surprised about the absence of the A1 Ring, excuse me, the Red Bull Ring, from the calendar, when I heard what Red Bull had done with the place, I thought it would be a shoo in for the spot vacated by New Jersey. But that brings me to another problem with regional series, what if the US, Germany, or Spain has two Grands Prix (as has happened in the past) that could be a problem. So maybe not such a good idea, but I thought it deserved consideration.
I considered putting India in the Asia/Pacific region, but due to geographical location I thought it might be better to put it in with Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. Also, good point about the origin of the name, I hadn’t thought about it. Finally, this is just my impression and proposal, feel free to offer another if you think you have a better one.
Let me get this straight, the FIA is limiting fuel and fuel flow rate, but not boost? And they are using turbo- not superchargers? I do not think they thought this one through too well.
Good points all around, I had not heard that various tracks were competing for audiences, but it makes sense. The weather thing is also a concern, I have been to Texas in the fall and you are right, it can get incredibly hot as late as early October. Although it might be funny to see a race there in August on the 2013 tires (50 lap race, 25 pit stops! Tires heat up on the first straight!) it would probably only be funny once. Another thing does occur to me though, the tracks might work with travel agencies to form multiple weekend packages to attract people to more than one race. Just a thought.
In many American states (including Texas) carrying a concealed firearm is legal with the proper permit. Are they saying that this is not permitted? I know that this is a big deal in some areas of the US
What I’m a little bit worried about is if they go forward with the new engines for 2014, that someone like Ford, Honda, or Toyota, who can pry loose loads of money for an engine development program will spend the necessary capital to have a truly world-beating engine and will sell it to only one team, thereby creating a market for the future. If someone does do this, we may see something like the past arms races, or even something like the 1988 season, if someone is willing to spend the money to create the impression that you must have their engines to be competitive.
Does anyone else think that it’s a bad idea to give McLaren another V6 Turbo? The last time that happened, they won all but one race. Admittedly, that was after years of development, but what if they persuade Honda to build engines again? Or if they get an American manufacturer such as Ford who simply doesn’t care about development costs if their engines win the Championships? The 2014 engine regs may lead to better racing and more teams, but I still don’t think that this has been thought out as well as it should be. Thoughts?
