Sorry I didn’t make it last week. I won’t be able to make it today either, but I should be free next week.

    @maddogmolloy @vitreouschain

That would be good – I don’t have any ideas for a team name though.

I’ll be racing again this season. I’m happy to team up with anyone who doesn’t have a team yet.

I’ve become a little bored with the F1 games recently.
Maybe it would be better to have longer breaks between seasons or even make it a yearly thing like the Collantine Cup. I don’t have Forza 4 but I’d be up for a league on that instead of F1, if other people are.

I haven’t had a major problem with bad driving but given that this is more of a casual league I can’t see how this could be improved anyway.
If everyone records their races (which may be easier with the new consoles) then penalties can be given out, but it’s difficult to take any action when there is no evidence available.
It may help if everyone has to explicitly agree to some rules over what is acceptable driving so everyone understands what is expected (although there is a paragraph in the first post which kind of covers this).

Other ideas: Reverse qualifying and/or a handicap system where we have the cars set to 2013 performance instead of equal, and faster drivers get slower cars based on previous results.
These could make the races more equal but require everyone to cooperate and not be purposely slow to gain an advantage.

    Highlights:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sxcOoQBJSQ

    Qualified 4th on primes.
My first stint was pretty awful. The start wasn’t great but with people falling off the track I moved up to 3rd.
On lap 2 I caught the kerb on the first corner and flew into the tyre barrier – rejoining in last. With general lack of pace I couldn’t get past imidazole and was stuck behind until he pitted on lap 8.

Pitted on lap 11. My pit crew didn’t do anything for a few seconds and had to replace the front wing so I was stationary for 9 seconds and came out in 7th.
Then nothing until I caught vitreouschain on lap 21 and got past a lap later.

Around lap 30 Maddog pitted and came out just ahead. After we both cleared chain we had yet another battle and I got past on lap 33.

Then stayed around a second ahead, until the last lap when I made several mistakes and almost lost 4th (and 5th) in the last corner but just about stayed ahead.

    Highlights:

    Qualified in 5th.
At the start I held on to that position and struggled to passed Maddog on lap 2 but he got back past on lap 4.
Then I had a scrap with McWoblin which ended up with me in the barrier.
A few laps later I passed McWoblin on the inside in turn one.
Pitted on lap 13. I had a very slow in lap as the tyres fell off the cliff just as I passed the pit entrance on the lap before.
The 2nd stint was uneventful. McWoblin disconnected and I slowly gained time to Maddog.
After my 2nd pitstop I came out just behind Maddog and was stuck there for 6 laps.

In last season’s race it was fairly easy to pass down into the chicane, but I couldn’t get close enough so had to attempt aggressive overtakes in the slower corners, and received a penalty in the chicane for no obvious reason.
Finally managed to get past on lap 32 into the first corner but Maddog seemed to hang on to the apex for longer than I was expecting and I nudged him as I went past, which earned me another penalty – I think a little unfair given how impossible overtaking is, but I’ll leave the stewards to decide whether it was deserved or not.

(Sorry for the excessive compression again.)

Incident 1: Maddog’s penalty is at 37:30 (I didn’t get a penalty for this one although I probably should have)

Incident 2: My first penalty is at 39:10

Incident 3: My second penalty is at 42:20

I’ll be appealing against both of my penalties. They were both incidents with maddog – video should be up later.

About visual damage: I was in a quick online race yesterday and I ran over someone’s front wing and flew off the track.
Since everyone will be losing their front wings at Monaco, I think it’s worth trying out no visual damage there.

For some reason the video has excessive compression in the last eight laps but you can work out whats happening.

Started in 5th and got up to 3rd in the 1st corner although I knocked Lemon (sorry about that). I was going to give the place back on a straight but made a mistake anyway and fell to 4th.
The tyres were well worn by the end of lap 4 and I missed a downshift on pit entry so dropped a few seconds there.
    —-Some other stuff happened—-
Had an incident lapping Strongo where he made a mistake into the chicane and I caught him faster than he was expecting (I think) and lost a couple of positions.
By the end Jonny was well ahead but Lemon pitted with a few laps to go and caught up very quickly. He was right behind halfway through the last lap but struggled to get past with the narrow track and fast corners. He almost got past on the corner before the two fast right handers.
From my point of view I was ahead and on the outside so I took the corner normally, but his car was just alongside on the inside, so I think I forced him to brake and fall back. I’m not sure if this was fair?

Nice to have a podium after a difficult start to the season. A few setup changes seem to have gone a long way.

    @maddogmolloy
I tried driving more smoothly, but it’s difficult to also go fast when using a pad.
I’ve found it easiest to turn off the vibration in the controller and just drive normally.
Tyre wear is high but I was fine on 3 stops yesterday and I’m not a particularly smooth driver. I think the front tyre wear is high because of the circuit – on some tracks rear wear is higher.

I find the car is easier to drive with low brake pressure – transition between braking and turning is smoother. That was the only major thing I changed between last week and yesterday and it helped a lot. I also had a less extreme setup which made the car feel easier to drive.
