What a trip! Sky Bus ended up the way to go to and from SIC. The bus collection point was only 10 minutes from my hotel as well. The first 2 days i went via KLIA transit…what a mistake. i saw KLIA internal track buses driving round with front and rear doors open with people hanging out. No real order, a bus would arrive and then driver would swing the door open after the guy controlling them was yelling at him and waving him up to where he should have stopped. There were a few people getting aggro at some of the staff organizing the buses. I saw a guy with his wife trying to stare down a bus usher as he didn’t have a ticket to get on, only for the same peanut to be pulled up at the KLIA train station and got told to wait because he didn’t have a ticket and needed to buy one. Karma. I know its a testing time but no need for aggro.
SkyBus was so much more faster and more guaranteed than KLIA as the 1 bus picked you up and dropped you off. KLIA you had to beat the other people to the train. It took us just on 2 hours to get from SIC to KLCC but it was in air conditioned uncramped comfort. We also beat our next door fans back.they went with KLIA.

Heat at the track was stifling but once in the stands there was a nice breeze. The pit walk was not even in consideration as the line 2 hours prior was insane. Autograph signing was the same. I am sure there are people with heat stroke to wait in the sun that long. But to each their own.

Was a good day and a bloody loud one, will be back in a couple of years but next time i may go the full 9 yards with an up-spec ticket.

well F1 Rocks concert and afterparty got canned, not happy but doesnt matter, ticket was free.

i was reading about the preparations for the mass influx from this friday onwards and it got me thinking again about the best mode of transport. While the train makes sense due to not being on the road and all, i was thinking because the seats are pretty much unlimited and there are almost twice the amount of stops as the bus, would the bus be the better option? the bus is limited to x amount of seats and only stops 4 times max. so i been thinking maybe the bus is the better way after all? can any locals clarify this for me?

Just sorted my FanVision rentals online. Anyone know what the deposit costs? i know you get it back just want to know how much RM to take to track, dont like using credit cards overseas where possible.

Its going to be a blast. will be doing a twitter/blog for this as i wont be doing it again. come and catch up in KL and follow. Tommo@Number20six , still quite new to it. i been following Keith also. The VIP afterparty should be very interesting although i have read and heard only the tail end drivers attend, still will be good to chat to them.

    Hey Ken,

if you use the SIC seat viewer, that gives a rough idea of what you will see. But the K1 seems to be the best for action and overall view.

@Journeyer, you know your right, i had forgot completely about the support races et al.

shows this is my first F1. so yeah traffic will be mad. KL Sentral is the go to KLIA, then SIC.

not sure how to get the tix though for KLIA, as with sky-bus at least you can buy them at the KLIA on arrival. Would imagine you could do the same with the Trains?

Also heard that you canbuy a personal radio thingy when your there, read some reviews. they cost a bit appraently and are a bugger to return as you have to traverse across a long distance. is what i read anyway. maybe sojmeone here who went last year can clarify on transport and the radio gadget at the track?…2 more weeks can pass so slowly. at least Melb F1 is not long to go.

Sky-Bus seems the go even though your in KL Sentral. If you use the train you will still need to hop a bus to SIC. Sky-Bus takes you there with 1 or 2 stops, maybe none, but you dont have to get off the KLIA train then find a bus. Go here, seems pretty good deal, Altjhough the link is out of date it will give you a rough idea.

Hey fellow aussie, yeah i am just a stones throw from KLCC. I will be there with bells on. The shirts good qulaity? Colourfast etc? Speaking of KLCC i will looking to take the Sky-Bus from KLCC to SIC. Anyone used the skybus service? is it like the bread line in russia or pretty organized?

As for food and refreshments, are they extortive at the SIC or pretty reasonable? Like a bottle a water i dont mind paying RM8-9 a 600ml bottle or maybe 12-15 RM for a burger or something? How gestapo are they when they search you for the food and drinks on walking through the gate?

And journeyer i know exactly what you mean about the merch. I am exactly the same, theres nothing wrong with that.

Also i got my tix not long ago and freaked out that my friday session was missing, what a newb, then discovered friday is free. Just in case others were wondering.

9 more days come oooooooooooon then 1 week after, Sepang …….Yeeeeeeeeeesssssss!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Journeyer, i am so tempted just to leave my luggage with the wife and stay at the SIC near the KLIA, but would leave KL single, possibly.

What are the merchandise prices like at the track?

Also for anyone who scored an F1 Afterparty ticket for sunday night on top of Lot 10, i will see you there. One of my “contacts” managed to fenagle me one.

I cant wait, by them time Melbourne F1 comes round i will be jumping out of my skin in anticipation for Sepang. If you guys want to meet up PM me or follow @Number20six on twitter.

    Its gonna be gooooood!!

this will be my first time at a GP, bought my tix in october on the early bird offer. happy to see current prices reflecting almost triple what i paid, helps being a tight ass. i will be in the ruby section and from what the viewer shows it puts me around P8 on the grid. although i have 2 tix the wife wont be attending fp1-3 or qually. she will be only be with me on race day, something about shopping in KL being better than seeing the same cars 3 days in a row… ha ha. we touch down around lunch time so i miss fp1 but will make an effort to be there…i hate flying like you wont believe. anyone here want to use the spare sessions on the tix i am happy to assist just means i walk you in on the ticket and then leave you to do whatever. otherwise the first 2 days are wasted. PM if keen. i am quite torn between hunting for autorgraphs or just balance it with enjoyig the F1. also hope to catch up with some of the red bull guys. i hear most of the drivers stay at the hotel at the aiport…seems logical. good hunting ground.

see you guys there, it shall be good.
