Maldonado for Williams in Barcelona 2012, anyone?
Williams’ drivers finished the season at 15th and 16th place, and the next best finish for that car was 5th, once in Abu Dhabi.14th June 2014, 22:24 at 10:24 pm #263104xivizmathParticipantEven though that’s not strictly trackside-F1 related, it is an interesting thing I noticed, while watching this year’s Le Mans 24 hour race on Eurosport. Rolex, F1’s and WEC’s official timekeeper, aired a commercial with a short scene with an onboard shot from Valtteri Bottas’ car from this year’s Australian GP, with V8 engine sound superimposed on it. I’m currently browsing the internet looking for that specific spot.
That tells quite a lot about the new sound of F1. It seems that even the official timekeeper doesn’t want to include it in its TV commercials.

The circuit is going to be renamed Circuit of The Kovalainen as a result.

If you like to improvise, you could think of a cool F1 Jagermeister livery, or maybe try converting a MotoGP livery to F1.

Mugello.

The unexpected track debut of Jeep F1’s single car entry.
22nd October 2013, 19:14 at 7:14 pm #243672xivizmathParticipantI think we really used to have cool liveries, not even that long ago. Think of the BMW Williams from around 2003, or the orange Arrows’. I also loved the 2000-2004 Jaguar.

14th October 2013, 11:46 at 11:46 am #243060xivizmathParticipantI know where you’re coming from, @loup-garou , and it’s not only about the unsafe release thing.
I remember Raikkonen receiving a drive-through penalty in Monaco 2008 as his tyres weren’t fully fitted at the 3 minute signal before the start. Now that’s something that got me thinking. I thought of the penalty silly.
But overall, I do agree that the driver is a part of the team, and the whole group should maintain high efficiency. After all, they’re all working for one thing, and that thing is to win.
12th October 2013, 23:45 at 11:45 pm #243032xivizmathParticipantEmbarrassing stickers to the car.
Drivers would be careful – no sponsor would like to have their logo next to an embarrassing FIA sanctioned sticker of, let’s say, drawing of a human phallus.
I reckon Charlie Whiting might not even use stickers, but draw aforementioned drawings himself with a bright-colored marker instead.
19th September 2013, 23:00 at 11:00 pm #241800xivizmathParticipantJust reposition the DRS zones to the most dangerous/fastest parts of the race track. DRS would now take cojones to activate.
I’d love to see some DRS overtaking on Eau Rouge.
EDIT:
Just got a great idea. How about extending the single DRS usage span to 30 seconds? The driver would activate it on the straight, gain the advantage, and then would have to be really smart not to lose the advantage on the upcoming corners, as, obviously, at no place in the F1 calendar we have flat-out parts lasting over 30 seconds.
Think about it.

Simply Sausages Croydon Street Circuit sounds neat.
