Looking at this.. why did they instruct Perez to give the place to Verstappen? Perez is actually in contention.

@krichelle I don’t think he was in contention for the race win with Verstappen in free air and much fresher tyres. They’d have battled knowing Max would eventually get ahead, so why risk it?
It’s not how I want races to end, but I understand the team for doing it.

I think what looks unfair is that when Perez asked to pass to overtake Russell, they didn’t allow him to do that

Cant believe Ferrari have lost a 40+ points advantage over the course of 3 races. Cant win championships like that.

Yes, sainz is just not at the same level, I believe leclerc, even with red bull’s recovery during the race, had good chances of winning, so sainz’s mistakes\bad performances + mechanical issue for the quickest driver explain that, even though leclerc still got better reliability than verstappen for now.

Yeah Ferrari are really starting to do a Ferrari here.
Really throwing it given how Max has had those DNFs and the Mercedes has up until this race been based on a pogo stick.

Yes, however you could see mercedes wasn’t at the same level as ferrari or red bull this race either, it’s just sainz that manages to be beaten\overtaken.

Well that was a proper test of the Mercedes Slim pod Cooling.
But Why why why did Mercedes start Hamilton on the harder compound tires. It might have paid off, but it was also the reason he got tagged by that driver starting on the faster compound.
I don’t think this was the track to split the strategies. Mercedes needed to treat this as a even test between the drivers.

Now a more realistic picture of where the teams and drivers are. Ferrari were possibly too relaxed about their early season points buffer, now vanished. All to fight for still, but now complicated by this turning into a three-team fight among the top 6.
Esploratore (@esploratore1)
23rd May 2022, 2:26
Well, a 3 team fight is interesting, and rare, think about 2003, doesn’t happen often.

The WDC battle is fully on via Leclerc’s unreliability.

I would say on Sainz’s mistakes. Don’t forget RB cars DNFd 3 times.

Yes, not fair to blame leclerc’s reliability when verstappen lost more points through that.

Max has galloped the advantage Charles had within 4 races. Ferrari better start taking this seriously if we want a banger season. I think Mercs are in it as well now. Its a long season.

I’m starting to get worried
RedBull’s straight line speed and race pace with the current cars’ aerodynamics have me worried
The one upside is that Monaco is hard to overtake and with the new rear wing we’ll need all the downforce we can get
Sainz needs to chill, he doesn’t need to be focused, he doesn’t need to get back up and fight again, he simply needs to relax, a 1-4 is better than a 1-6,1-7 or 1-DNF

Ferrari or at least Charles had a good race pace today so don’t worry. I think and hope it will be close the whole season between Ferrari and RB. I’m sorry for Sainz but not going to tell him to relax. Probably he is crying his eyes out.
