    Another brilliant grand prix weekend in Melbourne! I thought I’d share some of the photos I took over the four days at the track. I was fortunate enough to attend the pit lane walk on Thursday morning which allowed fans to get quite close to the garages and see some practice pit-stops from some of the V8 Supercar teams. I spent the weekend largely in the Schumacher stand overlooking turns 15 and 16. Despite Ricciardo’s subsequent disqualification, being in the grandstand as he negotiated the final few corners on the final lap of the race was simply amazing. You’d be forgiven for thinking he’d just won the championship. Anyways, I hope you enjoy these photos from the weekend:

    @tommy-c Wow you’ve really got some pics to be proud of there.

    A few of my favourites:

    Hadn’t noticed this attachment to the wing mirror on the McLaren, I presume this was during practice?

    Also I have to ask, what did you think of the noise?

    Thanks Keith! Yeh, the McLaren attachment was during Friday practice. The noise will take a bit of getting used to. I quite like it and it’s still quite loud when all cars are on track at once. It was a little strange though being able to have a conversation 50 metres from the track while the cars were out. No chance of that with the V8s! I must say, it does sound much worse on TV though. Hopefully a change in microphones or audio calibration will be an improvement.

    Enigma, I was kinda annoyed when the marshal walked in front of me and blocked my view! So I figured I’d use it to my advantage! I think that’s my favourite shot of the weekend.

    Very nice pictures, must have been great fun!
    What I found interesting on one of the pictures: is Marussia using pink flow viz?

    I’ve just added a few new shots; mainly some closer ones from turn 3 and 14.

    @hunocsi – I hadn’t noticed the flow viz before. Good spot! The shot was taken during Friday practice so that makes sense.

    @sato113
    – that shot was taken at the exit of turn 14

    @force-maikel
    – I use a Canon 500D and alternated between a Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 and a Sigma 150-500mm f/5.6-6.3

    – Great catalogue of the weekend! It looks like you were just a few blocks along from where I was for the race. You’d have had a great view of Jean-Eric Vernge sticking his wheel on the grass and getting sideways through turn 16!

    Here’s some video from the weekend as well: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tommycf1fan2013/sets/72157643054250095/

    Despite just using a phone for most of these, you get a reasonable comparison of the V10 vs V8 vs V6 engine sounds.

    @hunocsi Good spot! I hadn’t noticed the flow viz. The photo was taken during 2nd practice on Friday so that would make sense.

    @sato113
    The shot was taken on the exit of turn 14, entry to turn 15. It was a great spot to photograph the cars. That is at least for the first 10 minutes of the session until we were asked to sit in our seats by the event staff…

    Thanks! I use a Canon 500D and alternated between a Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 and a Sigma 150-500mm f/5.6-6.3.

    Great catalogue of the weekend! It looks like you were only a few blocks further down the grandstand from where I was during the race. You’d have had a great view of Jean Eric-Vernge sticking his wheel on the grass and getting sideways through turn 16!
