Just seen that the Zurich layout was revealed about a month ago.

This is the satellite view of it.
Disappointingly, although it might work out better, the track seems to be run in the wrong direction. However, the run down to turn 10 and then the run from turn 10 to turn 1 are both about equal in length with the longest straights we’ve seen in FE (approx 600/650m). Also not too many places to recover energy, so we might see more energy harvesting in the areas that it can be than usual. Either way, turn 1 could be a fun corner at high speeds. Let’s see if it can provide overtaking into turn 2.
2nd December 2017, 14:57 at 2:57 pm #357136PhilEReidParticipantThat’s a shame, I was looking forward to a new track. At least we still have 3 other new ones though, and the 2 that have been revealed so far look good to me, purely from a layout perspective.
22nd November 2017, 18:11 at 6:11 pm #356275PhilEReidParticipantAlso, I’m not 100% sure when this was released as I just randomly stumbled upon it when looking at the calendar. Looking forward to this one. Not too long away either, with it being on the 3rd of February.
21st October 2016, 15:36 at 3:36 pm #330759PhilEReidParticipantBecause I like doing it for no reason whatsoever, here is a satellite view of the circuit. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6974237
Looks to be about 2.75km long, and the longest straight is about 600m, which I think is pretty much on par with the other longest straights in Formula E right now.
Turn 9 and 10 looks pointlessly awkward. I like turn 5. Unfortunately it has the silly chicanes of turn 11,12 and turn 13,14, but I guess they are necessary. I think my favourite thing is the fact this track goes over what I expect to be quite a busy highway. Overall, the track doesn’t look super exciting, but does look (to my eye at least) that there could some good racing here.
17th October 2016, 16:45 at 4:45 pm #330645PhilEReidParticipantSo, apparently I’m not so in the know with this track, but I believe that this is the circuit that WTCC race in Marrakech used for this year (new for this year). This is a redesign of the original circuit, and boy is it far, far better than what was originally there. The old circuit used to be awful, so I’m glad there has been this change.
Can’t believe I completely missed that it had changed though.
17th October 2016, 11:13 at 11:13 am #330585PhilEReidParticipantHere’s a pretty fun overtake.
21st September 2016, 19:52 at 7:52 pm #329074PhilEReidParticipantAlso, I must say I quite like this circuit. It has no silly chicanes and some flowing corners too. Looking forward to this one quite a bit. Plus, the scenery should be amazing.
21st September 2016, 19:49 at 7:49 pm #329073PhilEReidParticipantCreate a G-Map of the circuit (it’s pretty close but not perfect), in case any one wanted to have a look. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6958104
3rd July 2016, 15:45 at 3:45 pm #323875PhilEReidParticipantWhat a great calendar. It’s still a shame they have to have the big game over the winter period, but as soon as April starts, that looks pretty amazing. Also, very excited to hear about what Rd 5 will be (I believe 9 is supposed to be a different London round?). I really hope both double headers are approved.
21st June 2016, 15:51 at 3:51 pm #323184PhilEReidParticipantJust a little over 24 hrs later, I have decided that @mathers is the winner! Congratulations.
20th June 2016, 15:33 at 3:33 pm #323092PhilEReidParticipantI’ll give my verdict within the next 24hrs. Thanks for all the submissions!
14th June 2016, 18:29 at 6:29 pm #322347PhilEReidParticipantNo restrictions on location!
14th June 2016, 16:43 at 4:43 pm #322344PhilEReidParticipantThanks @toti. My challenge:
Oh my, Bernie has gone mad (or at least, madder than usual), and it is your job, the unfortunate souls who have to put up with Bernie’s nonsense, to make the most of what he has suggested. Bernie wants a new street circuit, but he wants one with a twist. Bernie wants a street circuit that is only 2.5km-3km long, has one corner which utilises either a 270 degree turn around a roundabout, or a figure 8 layout.
Other rules:
– Can destroy one building/set of buildings that are not people homes, but only if there is a really good reason for it. Creating space for run off is not a good reason, but a pass through to get from one section of road to another is a good reason.
– Roads must be wide enough, or sufficient space to be widened. However, one section of road, no more than 300m, may be a tighter bit of road.
– There must be at least one 600m straight.
– A pit-lane must be designed, or described. So, we’re going for a silly, but realistic F1 circuit, that is a lot of fun to drive! Good luck all!
