The first racing game I had was “Super Monaco GP” on the Sega Mega Drive.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg_vbHAPmt0
I still remember some of the unofficial names used for the teams and drivers, for example Madonna (McLaren), Firenze (Ferrari) and Minarae (Minardi).
I always used to run the flagman over when he waved the chequered flag, he would fly away into the distance which always amused me, being a young child at the time. Would still amuse me now I expect! I need to find my Mega Drive now…28th September 2012, 19:30 at 7:30 pm #200980Tommo N7MemberWhat I think the line up will be:

25. Dani Clos/Jaime Alguersuari/Narain KarthikeyanI just can’t decide where I think Alguersuari will end up. Could replace Perez at Sauber, he could replace Petrov at Caterham, or he could join HRT, though I fear they’d keep Narain for another season.
28th September 2012, 19:19 at 7:19 pm #211331Tommo N7MemberJaime Alguersuari is a good call. he did announce on his twitter a few weeks back that he has a seat for next season, but we still don’t know where. If not Alguersuari, then Esteban Gutierrez. Or perhaps Kovalainen, I don’t like seeing his potential wasted away at Caterham.

21st April 2012, 21:43 at 9:43 pm #199920Tommo N7MemberHey Rebecca, this thread should be worth checking, hopefully you’ll get answers there:

24th February 2012, 17:38 at 5:38 pm #194015Tommo N7Member@Pamphlet You might be in the minority, as it seems a lot of people would prefer to have someone else in the car. Personally I would rather see Wickens in there, as I feel he deserves it more, but that’s not the way it works unfortunately.
24th February 2012, 17:25 at 5:25 pm #194013Tommo N7Member@the-hundredth-idiot There were similar rumours of Pic having money problems a week or two ago, and that Vitaly Petrov would replace him but Marrusia rejected the claims: https://twitter.com/#!/Marussia_F1Team/status/169030213265670146

Why not just join a already existing series, there are hundreds out there. Surely better than creating multiple threads and getting nowhere.
28th November 2011, 16:28 at 4:28 pm #185328Tommo N7Member26 – Kartikeyan – Why was he even selected? Money. No talent at all, a 31 year old who hadn’t raced since 2005, glad he was dropped.
25 – Massa – Second last because he performed so terribly for the car he was in. Didn’t manage a podium, not even a 4th, and was a mile off the top 5 and was closer to the Mercedes. Doesn’t deserve to be in a Ferrari.
24 – Maldonado – Didn’t impress me one bit, a waste of space, shouldn’t be in F1.
23 – Trulli – Why is he still here? Didn’t race well, in my opinion he should be replaced. Kovailainen can lead Caterham, and they can give a drive to someone useful.
22 – Liuzzi – Seemed bland, good drive in Canada though.
21 – d’Ambrosio – Not impressive, but good enough to stay in F1. Shame that Marussia replaced with Pic.
20 – Ricciardo – Only had half a season, but wasn’t too bad. Hope to see him at Toro Rosso next year.
19 – Barrichello – Again wasn’t impressive in a dog of a car. A part of me wants him to say, but the other says for him to go. If he doesn’t race next year, it’s bad of Williams not to say so before Brazil.
18 – Heidfeld – Shouldn’t have had the seat in the first place, but did well to be 11th despite only doing 11 races.
17 – Petrov – Great start, but fell away, mainly because of the Renault which i think was the 8th best car come the end of the season.
16 – Senna – Only 8 races to proove his worth, but done ok, matched Petrov, but often performed poorer in the race.
15 – Buemi – Not as good as his teammate, I think his time in STR is up.
14 – Glock – Did well in the Virgin, doubt Marussia will improve anytime soon, so I hope he can get a seat at a better team.
13 – Perez – Good start, good season, one to watch.
12 – Sutil – Did quite well to finish 9th but didn’t really impress me. Hope Hulkenberg replaces him next year.
11 – Alguersuari – Quite good, better than Buemi, hope he does better next year.
10 – di Resta – Decent debut year, wish he’ll be in a good car one day.
9 – Kobayashi – Good performance, I hope he and Suber continue to improve.
8 – Kovailainen – Brillaint drives in the Lotus, I’ll be glad to see if Caterham can battle in the midfield next season as he desrves a car to match his ability.
7 – Webber – Finished 3rd, way behind Vettel despite the same car. Only a easy win, needs to pick his game up.
6 – Hamilton – A season to forget. Too many silly incidents, needs to find his 2007/08 form.
5 – Rosberg – No podiums this year, and din’t do as good as last year. Nevertheless still peformed well. Like Kovalinen, needs a car to match his skill.
4 – Schumacher – Finished behind Rosberg, but did way better than last year. Such a shame at Canada as he could have had a podium if not for DRS.
3 – Button – Great year, nearly as good as 2009, shows he can be good, and out performed Hamilton.
2 – Alonso – Decent year in a dismal car. Kudos to him for coming 4th, unlucky to be robed of 3rd in the standings.
1 – Vettel – Obvious reasons. Dominant, hope he doesn’t run away next year though.27th November 2011, 17:53 at 5:53 pm #185312Tommo N7MemberVettel is the best driver without a question for obvious reasons. Honourable mentions to Button & Alonso. Rest of the field were pretty much forgettable.
Worst driver was either Massa or/and Maldonado. Massa scored 118 points, 139 behind Alonso and only 27 in front of Rosberg. Best finish was 5th I think, not even a podium. It won’t happen of course but I wish Ferrari buy out his contract in the winter, he’s a waste of space in the Ferrari. Onto Maldonado, only 1 point in a dog of a car, but his performances haven’t exactly been inspiring. Hope Williams can get enough money to displace Maldonado, because he isn’t worthy of an F1 seat.
31st October 2011, 9:35 at 9:35 am #184059Tommo N7MemberI hardly see any crashes, except for this big one in my career:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dX7RIKqHOM&feature=channel_video_title
Jenson missed the pits, then drives in the wall, where his pit box would be I believe. I also think this is more of a bug than a crash though.
15th October 2011, 9:50 at 9:50 am #180828Tommo N7MemberI’ve found the game alright to be honest, a few problems here and there though, and some minor improvements I would like.
I wish the qualifying times in career were more dynamic. The top 3 teams always qualify 1-6th, Next best 2 always qualify 7th-10th and so on, so for example, in season 1 of career, it will always be Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Renault in top 10, never a Sauber, or a Force India nipping into Q3 or anything like that.
As @Icthyes said, moving teams seems to be a problem. I finished 7th in my 1st season at Williams, and made it clear I’m looking for a new team, yet I got no better offers. A mate of mine won the championship on legend at Williams, and got no better offers too.
I’m also disappointed by the safety car online, and the AI, they are so laggy and buggy. Hopefully that will be fixed in the next patch though.
In addition, before the game came out, Codies said that you would see more AI mistakes and crashes. In the 40 odd career races I’ve done, I’ve only seen 1 retirement that wasn’t related to a incident involving myself.
But as a whole, I wouldn’t say it’s a let down. Yeah it could have been better in places, but it is still quite good, and has improvements from 2010.
11th October 2011, 13:17 at 1:17 pm #170968Tommo N7Member@bookoi @ajokay Cheers guys, sounds fun. I like to think I am a friendly person, and I’m not at all competitive, so sounds like I should fit in perfectly, hopefully. And yeah I’ll check your site out, and sign up :) I just hope any races on Forza 4 don’t clash with a PS3 F1 2011 championship I’m in :)
