Fernando Alonso topped the times in the second practice session at Monaco – just as he did in the first. A few spots of rain towards the end of second practice and the usual traffic problems made life especially tricky for the drivers.

Round five of the F1 Fanatic Predictions Championship was won by Scunnyman, who picked up 31 points with the best prediction of the weekend. As well as winning a Lotus DVD boxset Scunnyman moves up to third in the championship behind new leader Arpi_ and former leader J-Canada.

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh said the team lost second place in the Spanish Grand Prix because of wheel rim failure. The rim failed on Lewis Hamilton’s car on the penultimate lap of the race, sending him straight into the barriers.
