Michael Schumacher has been stripped of his sixth-placed finish by the Monaco Grand Prix stewards, who handed him a 20-second penalty for overtaking Fernando Alonso at the final corner of the race. The result drops Schumacher from sixth place in the original standings to 12th and out of the points.
Mark Webber led every lap of the Monaco Grand Prix and led Red Bull to a one-two victory in the principality. The race was interrupted by four safety car periods after a series of crashes, but Webber stayed cool and re-built his lead every time. Mark Webber starts from pole position for the second race in a row. He beat Robert Kubica by almost three tenths of a second to take pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix. Webber’s team mate Sebastian Vettel starts third alongside Felipe Massa’s Ferrari.
Fernando Alonso will not participate in qualifying at Monaco following his crash in final practice. Ferrari will have to replace his chassis due to the damage it suffered in his crash at Massenet, 22 minutes into this morning’s session.
Robert Kubica continued to show impressive pace around the streets of Monte-Carlo, setting the fastest time in the last practice session before qualifying. But Fernando Alonso’s run of fastest times in practice came to an end when he crashed at Massenet on his sixth lap.

Monaco has the longest unbroken run of years as a Grand Prix venue – having held an F1 race every year since 1955. Much of the track remains the same, but there have been changes in recent years – some of which were criticised for diminishing the challenge of this unique venue.
Traffic will be a bigger problem at Monaco this year than it has been since 1995.
