Alpha Tauri, the new name for the Toro Rosso team, has become the second outfit to confirm the launch date of its car for the 2020 F1 season.
Red Bull’s rebranded junior team will reveal its 15th F1 car in an event at the company’s Hangar-7 facility in Salzburg, Austria on February 14th, five days before pre-season testing begins. Ferrari, the only other team to confirms its car launch details so far, will present its new racers on February 11th.As RaceFans revealed in September, the team which Red Bull purchased from Minardi is changing its name from Toro Rosso, the Italian for ‘Red Bull’, to Alpha Tauri, the name of a Red Bull fashion label. Promotional material for the event bears the Alpha Tauri slogan ‘Fits Body And Mind’. The team is listed as ‘Scuderia Alpha Tauri’ on the official FIA F1 entry list for 2020.
Daniil Kvyat and Pierre Gasly will continue to drive for the Honda-powered squad next year. The team equalled its highest ever championship finishing position of sixth place, as Toro Rosso, this year.

Will the car be named SAT/AT15 or 1, though? 1 would be more fitting due to the name change even if it’s a continuation of another entry, but the same case with the RP-predecessors, or Mercedes-predecessors, etc.

McLaren went from MP4 to MCL while keeping the number count, so they can keep counting. It’s still the same team.

Black and white logos, will we see a brand new livery from them?

can’t wait to see if Crofty and Martin will remember this name or will keep calling it TorroRosso, like they often do with Racing Point / Force India. Also, interesting that we’ll have Alfa & Alpha teams, will be a bit more difficult to say “the Alfas”

To add to the confusion, the team that is sponsored by Italian automaker Alfa races under the Swiss flag, and the team that is sponsored by Austrian clothing manufacturer Alpha is based in Italy. So one can’t even say “The Italian Alfa team…”
Clear as mud!

@gechichan – “if”? “if”???? :)
The real question is “when?” I’d wager day 1 of pre-season testing. This is Crofty we’re talking about, after all.
I can already hear him: “Alpha with a ‘P’, Alfa with an ‘F’, it’s all a bit confusing, isn’t it, Martin?”

Branding here, branding there, branding everywhere. I can’t keep up.
I still see them as Sauber, Force India and Minardi.
