What they say

Steiner made several comments critical of Grosjean in episode seven of the series:

I know Gunther and he is calling a cat a cat. So that’s fine by me. We’ve had discussions and we’ve never lied to each other. It’s always tell the truth and it’s something I appreciate.

And honestly if you are telling me to judge the first half of the season last year I wouldn’t have been tender myself. So it’s fine by me.

I think I changed the direction of the boat in the second part and hopefully he did say some nice things in the second part. I didn’t hear, but hopefully.

Comment of the day

@Garns recalls the time he met Charlie Whiting:

We got to know him over the years just through F1 travel, he and Herbie took us through Race Control in Sepang, we caught up for a drink and meal when he could and have some great photos with my kids. And a few other stories.

We planned to see him in Melbourne this weekend. All thoughts to his young kids and family, also to Herbie Blash, what a team.

Next Chard is on me mate. RIP.

  1. Like most, I’m still trying to get my head around the passing of Charlie.

I can only imagine the effect that this will be having on all involved in this weekends race and his family. He’ll be sorely missed.

On a lighter note, I’m wondering who’ll be the first in the heat of the race to jump on the radio with a “tell Charlie ….. “ when they feel they’ve been impeded or wronged in some way.

    1. I think if I were a driver, I’d try to be first on the radio to say “Tell Charlie we’ll miss him.”

  2. @keithcollantine Thanks for opening the prediction championship. Is the pole time scrapped for this year or just forgotten/inactive?

    1. I wondered about this a well, plus the link to look at all the predictions is gone as well.

  3. Technically, the Australian GP isn’t a ‘twilight’ race, though. The definition of a twilight race is that it starts under daylight and ends by the time the sky has become wholly dark following the sunset and the subsequent twilight phases (civil, nautical, and astronomical twilight). Precisely how it’s with the Abu Dhabi GP. That’s the only ‘true’ twilight race of F1 at present.
