Does anyone actually pay any attention to anything Mercedes say now?

I don’t, they’re liars, sandbaggers, and I’m getting bored with F1 with them getting just about every pole and every win. It’s boring.

Post race (i didnt watch nor seen it yet but i m guessing)
Ferrari are clearly ahead, but maybe made some mistakes somewhere. They are the clear contenders for the win, we will work hard and try to beat them however hard it may be!
Tomorrow:
Bottas: there was a swarm of mosquitoes at the start line on my side, and caused so much drag, hamilton lead away!

With this pole position, Mercedes have matched the record of the most consecutive constructors championship in F1 history, and have now taken the record of the most consecutive double championships.
(I know it’s still early in the season, I don’t need the reminders).

I really hope charles can finish in front of seb tomorrow. If he doesn’t and seb is 10+ points after this race, I’m sure ferrari will make him 2nd driver by default.
dubsix (@dubsix)
27th April 2019, 16:53
Yes, and if he beats Seb from this far back, Ferrari have to start giving him equal status.

I’m pretty sure that Vettel had a really happy feeling inside that cockpit when he past Leclerc’s stricken Ferrari. To a certain extent Binotto must be relieved as well… he won’t have to bother too much about managing their drivers tomorrow.
Leclerc will be playing another supporting role tomorrow… and this time Ferrari don’t need to justify it to him.
Ben Rowe (@thegianthogweed)
27th April 2019, 17:13
I don’t think he will have felt happy at all at that specific moment in time. He had to suddenly abort his lap and ran over a bit of debris. I wouldn’t have thought he would actually be pleased. Some may not agree, but I think Vettel would prefer to have both Ferrari’s at the top even if he was beaten rather than Leclerc crashing out. The team need points and he knows this if he looks back at the results from Mercedes. Constructors is important, not just trying to beat his team mate.

No, no, no. It was pure luck, LeClerc’s red flag led to a later qualifying, and then Mercedes was able to capitalize on those cooler temps. Lucky them!

Max has a mega lap but he looks disappointed the team didn’t put him in a slipstream position. It cost him “a couple of tenths”

I forget how the rules work, does Giovinazzi have to start on his Q2 tyres because he got to Q3 or does Sainz because he starts in the top 10? Or neither? And if it’s Giovinazzi, why did he run in Q2? Great, he got ahead of the Williamses. I would think that it would be more beneficial to start 19th on new tyres than 17th or even 16th or 15th on worn tyres
David (@nvherman)
27th April 2019, 16:27
IIRC Giovinazzi will have to use the set he set his fastest Q2 time on, because his grid penalty is applied to his starting position.
Therefore Sainz will get free choice of tyre, because he missed the Q3 cut.
The reason to run Giovinazzi ran is if for example he had qualified on P1 (obviously I realise this is unlikely), he would start P11, which is still good
Todfod (@todfod)

@leonardodicappucino
Sainz gets free tyre choice. He lucked in a little.
Gio starts on the tyres he used for his fastest lap in Q3. I agree.. it would have been more sensible to let Gio skip on Q3 altogether and start on a fresh set of mediums in P19.

Q2 not Q3 are the starting tyre.

Of course they have a good car but boy did mercedes get another big helping of luck. Leclerc’s accident, the cooler track temp… They are just winning as if it were 2014 with an “almost” equal car to Ferrari

This is getting so old and predictable. Watching them get pole after pole and win after win just sucks all the drama out of the sport. Nobody wants to watch a football, basketball, or baseball game where the winner is decided before the game even begins.
